One-Eyed Crochet Monster

Source

Inspired by Squidoo Trophy Monsters

This little guy was inspired by my favorite little Squid trophies on Squidoo.com.

Supplies:

  • Red heart yarn - Red
  • Crochet hook size E
  • Gauge - Not important
  • Fiber Fill

Learn the Basic Crochet Stitches

Make 2 Legs - working in a round do not join

  • Chain 2
  • 6 single crochet in second chain from hook
  • 2 single crochet in each stitch around
  • 1 sc in first stitch, 2sc in next stitch - you'll want to repeat this pattern all around [18 stitches]
  • Working in Back Loops Only - single crochet in each stitch around
  • Working in both loops - Work single crochet in each stitch around for 8 more rows

You now have both legs Made. Set them side by side and join using 4 single crochets: *See picture illustration below

Once attached in this way place your stitch marker in the next stitch - you will now work around both legs.

1 - Work 1sc in each stitch around
2 - 1sc in each stitch around
3- 1sc in each stitch around
4 - 1sc in each stitch around
5 - 1 sc in each stitch around
6 - 1 sc in each stitch around

7 - Decrease sc over first 2 stitches, single crochet in next 14 stitches, decrease single crochet over next 2 stitches, 1 sc in the last 15 stitches

12 - 1 single crochet in each stitch around

start stuffing your monster as you continue to decrease

13 - 1 single crochet in each stitch around
14 - 1 single crochet in first 8 stitches, decrease over the next 2 stitches, 1 single crochet in the next 10 stitches, decrease over next 2 stitches, 1 single crochet in last 4 stitches
15 - 1 single crochet in first 2 stitches, decrease over the next 2 stitches, 1 single crochet in next 9 stitches, decrease over next two stitches, 1 single crochet over last 10 stitches
16 - 1 single crochet in each stitch around
17 - 1 single crochet in each stitch around
18 - 1 sc in first 6 stitches, decrease over the next 2 stitches, 1 single crochet in next 10 stitches, decrease over next 2 stitches, 1 single crochet in last 3 stitches
19 - Decrease over the first 2 stitches, 1 single crochet in next 8 stitches, decrease over next 2 stitches, 1 single crochet in last 9 stitches
End off
Sew closed (this is the top of your monster)

For the eye ball you can just glue one google eye onto it or crochet an eye and sew it to your Monster. [Felt works well too]
