Distinctive Art of an Amazing Zorikto Dorzhiev

Updated on February 3, 2015

Zorikto Dorzhiev

Not long ago my friend from Russia e-mailed me a link with these words- “Check it. You won’t regret. I am telling you this as an artist to an artist”. My friend is not an artist, neither am I, in professional meaning of this word, but I got him. The link was in Russian language, and it easily displays 52 works of a young amazing artist Zorikto Dorzhiev.

Zorikto Dorzhiev was born in 1976 in Ulan Ude (Siberia). From 1991 to 1996 he studied at Republican College of Arts, Ulan-Ude. From 1996 to 2002 he studied in Krasnoyarsk State Institute of Arts, painting department, in prof. A. M. Znak studio. From 2003 to 2005 he developed himself in The Russian Academy of Arts (the Urals, Siberia and the Far East branch), studio of A. P. Levitin. Zorikto’s artworks are kept in private collections in Russia, the USA, Germany and Australia.

A singer of a people

In his work, Zorikto describes in his own way the life, traditions and customs of his people the Buryat, the Siberian wondering nomads. He works mainly with oil and acrylic, and writes philosphical poetry and stories to go with his dreamy paintings. He often paints nomads, as he views them as contemplators. Zorikto is a Buryat, member of the major Mongolian ethnic group descended from Genghis Khan, which settled in Siberia long before the Russians inhabited the region. The Buryats follow Buddhist principles and have traditionally led a nomadic lifestyle, which Zorikto ably portrays in his works. His subjects are the men and women, as well as children living in one of the harshest environments on the planet, surviving political and environmental hardships while retaining their values. Zorikto’s paintings help us realize the universality of man through understanding the native people of his homeland.

I thought it would be great to share with you the original art of this outstanding distinctive artist. I was born and grew up in Kazakhstan among people who were nomads in former times, I know their culture, their music. Their faces are faces of family for me. That’s why I enjoyed very much the works of Zorikto. I hear that specific nomad music behind the images, so powerful is his art.

I will be glad if you like Zorikto’s works. I wish I could buy his piece of art some day.

Giclee reproductions

Artists commonly use the Giclee printing processes to create high end limited edition reproductions of their original artwork.

On a per-print basis, a Giclee print is more expensive than traditional methods used to create such replicas, but artists can print and sell each Giclee print individually matching demand making Giclee a very economical alternative for creating limited edition prints.

An added advantage of Giclee printing is that the artist can have complete control in all aspects of the image.

Alterations, color, size, and what it is printed on can all be manipulated by the artist, along with the freedom for the artist to own and operate the printer as well. Giclee printing has been rapidly growing and becoming the number one choice of fine art reproductions.

Many printer and print media manufacturers have been working to improve their product contributing tremendously to the increase in overall Giclee print quality.

k@ri, I don't know how to reach you, so I am posting it here- I can't get into your profile or your hubs. You are so nice to me, but I even can't read and comment on your hubs, as your page wouldn't open. I posted a question about this problem on a forum, I'll see what can help...
