Custom Greeting Card

Creating a custom birthday card for the very special first birthday was easy using my Cricut die-cutting machine and the Cricut Birthday Bash cartridge. This card features a cute little squirrel holding the Number One with a Happy Birthday phrase to the right.

I chose fun and bright colors sure to please any little guy getting this card and his loved ones too! The patterned backgrounds are offset by the solid bright heavy-weight cardstock squirrel and phrase.

Cricut's Birthday Bash cartridge offers a huge variety of whimsical creatures celebrating a birthday. You can customize your handmade card with whichever colors of cardstock you choose along with one of the cute little creatures.

Not only can a card be handmade but there are base cards and tags to go be created too.

I highly recommend this Cricut cartridge for your Cricut library. There are so many uses for it.

How to make it

For the base card use a 8 1/2" x 5 1/4" piece of cardstock folded on the long edge to create a card measuring 4 1/4" High x 5 1/4" Wide.

Cut a background piece of cardstock, which can be light weight cardstock, measuring 4" x 5".

Cut another background piece of light weight cardstock to measure 3 3/4" x 4 3/4".

Adhere the larger piece of background cardstock to the base card.

Adhere the smaller piece of background cardstock to the larger piece.

Cut 1 <Squirrel>, page 61, measuring 2 1/2" using the Phrase and Squirrel keyboard keys. This will cut out the Bottom layer of the Happy Birthday Little Guy phrase. I used a bright blue cardstock.

Cut 1 <Squrel-s>, page 61, measuring 2 1/2" using the Phrase, Shift, and Squirrel keyboard keys. This will cut out the Top layer of the Happy Birthday Little Guy phrase. I used a bright green cardstock.

Adhere the top layer of the phrase to the bottom layer and set aside.

Cut 1 <Squirrel>, page 61, measuring 2 1/4" using the Squirrel keyboard key. This will cut out the Squirrel's body bottom layer. I used a bright green cardstock.

Cut 1 <Squrel-s>, page 61,measuring 2 1/4" using the Shift and Squirrel keyboard keys. This will cut out the Squirrel's Ear, Face, Arms, and Hand shapes. I used a bright blue cardstock.

Cut 1 <Squrel-s>, page 61, measuring 2 1/4" using the Layer 1, Shift, and Squirrel keyboard keys. This will cut the Squirrel's fun little teeth. I used white cardstock.

Cut 1 <Squirrel>, page 61, measuring 2 1/4" using the Layer 1 and Squirrel keyboard keys. This will cut out the Squirrel's eyes, nose, and smile. I used a dark blue cardstock. The eyes are very tiny so be careful not to discard them when pulling off the sticky sheet.

Cut 1 <Squirrel>, page 61, measuring 2 1/4" using the Layer 2 and Squirrel keyboard keys. This will cut out the Hat, and Candle decoration. I used a red cardstock.

Cut 1 <Squrel-s>, page 61, measuring 2 1/4" using the Layer 2, Shift, and Squirrel keyboard keys. This will cut out the Number One and Hat Decoration. I used a striped cardstock.

Adhere the Red stripes to the Number One cutout.

Adhere the Squirrel's Ear shapes, face, and top arm shape first.

Adhere the Squirrel's eyes, nose, smile and then adhere the teeth.

Adhere the almost finished Squirrel shape to the bottom left of the base card, at a slant.

Adhere the Number One covering the blue arm as shown.

Adhere the bottom blue arm shape, covering the Number One and adhere the tiny piece of blue which is the Squirrel's hand wrapping around the Number One.

Adhere the decoration to the Hat

Adhere the hat to the top of the Squirrel's head.

Adhere the finished Happy Birthday phrase to the top right of the base card.

Done!

A Great cartridge for Celebrations!

This cartridge contains sweet little images featuring animals, sweet party treats, fun and fanciful numbers along with phrases, cards, and tags to celebrate that special day.

It's not only for a birthday card or scrapbook layout but any type of celebration.

Also included is a font from which you can create your own unique phrase.

How to Make the Gift Tag

Cut 1 <Squirrel>, page 61, measuring 3" using the Card/Tag and Squirrel keyboard keys. This will cut the Base tag shape. I used the same orange cardstock for the tag as I did for the Birthday Boy card.

Cut 1 <Squrel-s>, page 61, measuring 3" using the Card/Tag, Shift, and Squirrel keyboard keys. This will cut out the decorative shape for the tag (it looks like the ribbon on a gift).

Adhere the decorative shape to the tag.

Add a matching piece of ribbon to secure it to the gift.

Done!
