Etsy Seller Interview Series- FairyJewelryBox

Updated on September 19, 2015

Check out FairyJewleryBox here:

1. When did you open your shop?

April 6 2015

2. What do you make?

Handmade Wire Wrap Jewelry

3. What is your favorite item in your shop?

I actually have 2, I really don't want to sell them, but would love to see them in a happy home!

4. What is your biggest challenge?

My biggest challenge has actually been getting sales, I can never figure out if it is my pictures that don't display my pieces properly, or if jewelry is just too flooded, or if my pieces are too unique, and therefore not a style that many people would wear.

5. Where are you from?

I live in Calgary, Alberta Canada, but just moved here a year ago, I grew up in the Niagara Region of Ontario, Canada

6. Why do you love Etsy?

I love Etsy because without it, I never would have started to expand what I make. I never would have thought about creating jewelry to sell, and because I now have a platform to sell, I am constantly trying new techniques and styles. I also love the Etsy community. It is full of great people always encouraging others to succeed, even if they are your direct competition, which would never happen in "the real world".

7. Tell me about your shop

I created Fairy Jewelry Box both out of need and desire. I needed to make money from home, and desired to create beautiful jewelry. I work with anything sparkly and shiny, and wire. I love the capabilities that wire gives me. I can create so many different things, all from simple wire. I also love to do custom jewelry. The things that can come from others' minds, and come together with my hands gives me such an amazing feeling, especially when the customer loves what I have created.

What is your favorite section from FairyJewelryBox's shop?

See results

8. How did you get interested in crafting?

I have always loved making jewelry, since I was very young. It has evolved from simple seed beads, to embroidery floss bracelets, and now wire wrapping. To create something with my own hands has always been rewarding for me, and I don't think that will ever change.

9. What kind of craft would you like to learn next?

Next I am trying to learn how to make the very heady wire wrap pieces, with gorgeous stones and crystals. As well I want to create a line of body jewelry, ear cuffs and arm cuffs that are different than anyone has seen. My style is always evolving, and I just really want to continue to create unique pieces that get noticed. I love hearing "Wow, that is so awesome" or "wow that is so different!"

10. What's in store for the future?

In the future, I am wanting to start working more with gemstones and sterling silver and gold wire to really elevate my jewelry to the next level. I am also working on my local sales to get my name out there more, and would like to start my own website. For right now I am taking it one day at a time, and enjoying the ride, wherever it takes me!

Lovely, adorable and a fun read, but very informative. Best of all things to you while on HP. You are a super-writer.
