Fairy Houses

Updated on June 4, 2018

Supplies & Materials, Where To Find Them

There are so many different fairy houses to make! Each one is more adorable than the next in my opinion

But where do you find the materials necessary to make a realistic looking fairy house? The same exact place fairies find them, nature!

Tree bark, shells, acorns, pinecones, moss, dried flowers, sticks, and feathers can all be found on nature walks so that's where you should start.

Start collecting anything in nature that is small and keep your pieces organized for when you embark on your first fairy house.

You may want to collect pieces over a year's time to get different nature forms from each season as they change.

As you begin collecting, your imaginations will probably run wild with ideas.

You should probably use only materials found in nature to keep your fairy home looking authentic.

Make a Gourd Fairy House With Polymer Clay Embellishments

Fairy Houses can take many forms and can be created in many different places. Find a quiet place away from roads or busy pathways. Gourds can be hollowed out and made into very cute fairy houses.

If you were a fairy, what would you want your house to look like?

Fairy Houses Made From Gourds

You can make a gorgeous fairy house from a gourd.

Learn how to hollow out the inside of a gourd to make a fairy house by watching the video below.

Buy some polymer clay at the craft store and make the embellishments as seen in the picture. Glue the pieces on with E6000 glue.

If you wanted to make more than one, you can type "gourd farm + your location" into Google and see if there is a local one.

I just did this and found that there is a gourd farm located 8 minutes from my house, who knew?

I’d love for more people to be able to view the houses I’ve made. They are not for sale but I’d like to share them.

Would you put some here for others to see? Just search my name and Fairy Houses. Thanks

Oh wow! So many awesome ideas for fairy houses... My mum has just bought me some gorgeous solar powered fairy lights. I definitely think I have to make them a little kingdom to match! Will be pinning this for later, thanks.

Awwww! Every time I see a Fairy house I think I should make one, and then I kind of forget.... Truth is I did not know from where to start. Thanks for the advice. Going on nature walks and collecting suitable material sounds like a wonderful way to get started!
