Flower girls are precious and add so much to the wedding ceremony. You can make their hair wreaths yourself from flowers in the garden. This top wreath was made from things in my garden and with two pipe cleaners, some ribbon and glue it cost less than $3.00.

If you don't have a garden or flowers you can buy some from the local florists. For the second photo wreath, there are pink and white wax flowers, purple statice, yellow yarrow and leather leaf for greens. One stem of each is plenty for one wreath. Also buy 2 yards of white acetate #9 ribbon. The most expensive item is the correct glue. It is a floral glue made for flowers and costs about $8.00 per tube.

Most florists will sell you a yard of ribbon. In these we used several colors and less than a yard of each color.

You will need:

pipe cleaners,

floral glue (Michaels)

a few green leaves, ivy is perfect,

little flowers from your garden

Take 2 pipe cleaners twist them together and attach them to two other pipe cleaners that have been twisted around each other and together in a circle. Take the end of one and fold it back to make a loop. Take the other end and make a hook. This will be your fastener. You will need some idea of the size of the girl's head, but it's best to make them an inch larger then adjust later.

Second Step:With the pipe cleaner opened, take an inexpensive white or green ribbon, about 1 inch wide and wrap it snugly down the entire length of the pipe cleaners. You can see the ribbon twisted around the pipe cleaners in the picture. Fasten the ends with your floral glue.(Floralife glue, comes in a tube about $8.00) While that's drying, take all your flowers and your leather leaf and cut them into little pieces that you can glue. Glue your little fern pieces down first then go around the wreath with the tiny flowers.

A beautiful effect in winter is an all white wreath using New Love Baby's Breath, some Diamond Dust sparkle and white ribbon. Your flower girl will look like an angel. Also peel off sticky rhinestones can be dotted on the flowers. For the diamond dust you will need a can of spray glue. When you have finished glueing on flowers, lightly spray the entire wreath with spray glue then shake on the diamond dust. (It's prettier than glitter)

Third Step: Ribbons: We used an inexpensive white acetate wrapping ribbon for the pipe cleaners, then several lengths of l/8 inch satin ribbon for streamers and one sheer ribbon to make a bow to cover the hook in the back. The ribbon is the hardest part and you will just need to experiment.

The bottom photo is a fall wreath and rather an unusual color sheme, of antique green hydragea, white and pink hydrangea .The flowers are dotted with pink rhinestones to add a little glam and glitter.

Thank you. I'm sorry I don't have a video. If you just jump in and start working on one you will see how easy it is. With pipecleaners, ribbon and the floral glue you will make the mechanics of the thing. Then it' just a matter of making it pretty by dotting on flowers. In some of these I used white ribbon over the pipe cleanes and in others dark green.
