I've been crocheting since I was a little girl. Since then I've designed for magazines and offer free patterns at my site.

Infinity scarves are all the rage this year. What better way to create them, but with crochet. Here you'll find all of the free crochet patterns that you could need. There are tutorials to show you how to create your own pattern. Included are scarves worked in the round and scarves that are later sewn together when finished. One is featured that is buttoned together.

An infinity scarf is a long tube that is wound around the neck to create a cowl appearance. You can easily design your own. All you need is an extra long scarf and sew the ends together or work the scarf in the round.

Many of these designs give the measurements and you can just use those and use your own pattern stitch. When finished, just double wrap the scarf around your neck. If you crochet the scarf long enough, you can even triple wrap it or just wear it as an extra long scarf.

If using a different weight than bulky yarn, it helps to use a soft yarn and a larger hook than normal. This will give the scarf a better drape. Many of the scarves here are crocheted with extra bulky yarn. Lion Brand Extra Thick and Quick seems to be the popular choice.

I've used worsted weight and that provides an extra warm scarf. With that I use a size J hook.

Chevron Lace - The pattern just goes around the neck and most infinity scarves wrap twice. This design is a great way to use up those balls of yarn that are leftovers. The designer suggest to just continue in the pattern if you would like a longer one.

A DK weight yarn was used and a size H crochet hook. If you have lots of worsted weight scraps, those should work fine too. The scarf will be just a little wider.

Favecrafts Paradores Infinity Scarf - The pattern states that it is for fashion lovers only. It looks like a nice warm scarf to me though. The scarf is designed with Caron Spa yarn and a size H hook. The pattern suggests that you can drape it around your neck like any infinity scarf or throw it across your shoulders.

Fiber Flux Pavement Infinity Scarf - This scarf is designed with Lion Brand Thick and Quick Wool Ease yarn. You'll also need a size N hook. The project can be finished super quick. You could use any other extra bulky yarn. It is created with a V-stitch which is easy to crochet.

Hookers Don't Bite Sugared Ribs Scarf - You'll need easy to find worsted weight yarn and a size J hook. The pattern does use a foundation half double crochet and a raised single crochet. She explains how to create the stitches which are easy. Also included are photos to guide you through the project.

Lacy Infinity Scarf - This scarf is warm and crochets up quickly with worsted weight yarn. The open shell pattern gives it a lacy look.

My Favourite Things Chunky Infinity Scarf - This scarf is crocheted with a pretty shell pattern. 8-ply yarn is used, but 2 strands of 4-ply should work. Included are videos and photos to help you through the project.

My Hobby is Crochet Infinity Scarf - She used Red Heart with Love yarn. I just purchased a skein of this yarn to try for the first time last night. I can't wait to try it.

The scarf is crocheted with a size 6.00 mm or size J hook. It shouldn't take you long to crochet the project.

On The Wings of a Dove Infinity Scarf - This scarf can be crocheted in just a little over an hour. She used Lion Brand Thick and Quick and a size N hook. It is crocheted in the round and looks like an easy pattern.

Pumpkin Infinity - Dandelion Daze offer this free pattern. The pattern uses a star stitch which she says is easy once you learn it. 2 video links are included so you can learn the stitch. 4-ply worsted weight was used and a size H hook. I'd try using Caron Simply Soft to get a better drape.

Scarfati - The photo at the right, shows two scarves together. This can be fun, since you can have one or as many as you'd like. Each takes a skein of bulky weight yarn. She used Adriafil Cortina which comes in 98 yard skeins. You'll also need a size K hook, so these should crochet up quickly.

Super Chunky Tutorial - What's for Dinner Blog offers this free pattern that is crocheted with 4 skeins of Lion Brand Wool Ease Thick and Quick. You'll need a size N hook. The pattern is another quick and easy project to complete. Photos guide you through the entire pattern.

The Stingy Stitcher Blue Infinity - Less than a skein of Caron Simply Soft yarn was used for the scarf. The scarf is crocheted with a J hook. It is another quick project.

I can knit, but have never crocheted. I have been thinking I ought to try it and some of these patterns look like they show you how to do certain stitches, so I shall come back to this and have a go. Thanks for all the information.
