Free Crochet Men's Hat Patterns
What better gift to crochet for a man than a hat? Anyone living in the north needs one for the winter months. Included on this page is a long list of free crochet hat patterns that are suitable for that special man in your life.
Crochet a few extras for your sons, grandsons, nephews and a few for charity would be nice too. Most hats can be crocheted in an evening and take just a skein of yarn.
Think creatively and you can use up scraps you already have. Just use stripes and different colors.

Tunisian Ribbed Hat is another nice design by Kim Guzman. The hat measures 24 to 25 inches around. Measure the circumference of the man's head that you plan to make the hat for with a tape measure. Kim says the hat fits her, but some men's heads are larger. Adjustments can be easily made.
She used 1 skein of Simply Soft yarn and a size I afghan hook to create the hat. Any soft worsted weight yarn should work.
Men's Cabled Golf Hat is from the Moogly blog. It fits a size 23" head. The pattern requires 178 yards of worsted weight yarn and a size J hook. For this pattern Lion Brand Wool Ease yarn was used.

Aunt B's Ski Mask uses a size K hook, so it will be quick to crochet. She includes sizes for both adults and children. You'll also need a skein of 4-ply worsted weight yarn and a small amount of a different color for the trim.
Baseball Cap is a hat any man would like. The hat is rated for an Advanced Beginner. Red Heart Super Saver yarn was used and a size J hook.
Beer Can Hat is brought to you by Stitchy McYarn Pants. I just love the names people come up with for their sites and names. Beer cans have been cut out, but you can use any kind of beverage can to create this hat. The pieces of can are then stitched together.
Bobby's Slouchy Beanie is offered by Warmth Designs. I think you'll like this one. She used Paton's silk Bamboo yarn and a size G hook.
Brain Wave Beanie has wavy stripes in 4 different colors. It is offered by the Playin' Hooky Designs. The hat would be a good way to use up some of those leftover yarn scraps.
Carmel is a slouchy hat that any man would love. It is offered as a free pattern from Drops Designs. 2 different Garn Studio yarns are suggested for the project.
Easy Peasy Hat uses 4-ply worsted weight yarn. She used Red Heart Super Saver yarn. You'll also need a size J hook. This is the same hat design that I used to give to charity a few years ago. I used my own pattern. I was able to crochet 17 before Christmas, so you can see they are quick to crochet. I could do one in an evening.
Husband Hat was crocheted for the designer's husband and she says he loved it and wore in everywhere. The pattern is offered by the Widney Woman Creative blog. A size H hook and Lion Brand Bulky yarn was used.
JJ Crochet Men's Hat Pattern is a good one if you are comfortable with crocheting with front post double crochet. If not, she gives you step-by-step photos how to crochet the hat. You'll need 4-ply worsted weight yarn and a size H hook.
Mandana is a little different. The hat fits over a baseball style hat. The design is offered by the Sububan Hooker blog.
Manly Ear Warmer from FaveCrafts is a quick and easy project that any man would love to receive. She used a soft stretchy yarn and a 10.0 mm hook.
Mario Mushroom Hat is offered by April Draven. 4-ply worsted weight yarn is needed to create the design and a size H hook. You'll need to be able to understand how to use charts to use the pattern.
Post Stitch is an easy hat from Angel Crafts. She used Red Heart Super Saver yarn and a size G hook. Any 4-ply worsted weight yarn would work well.
