Free Crochet Pattern: Cat in Striped Pajamas Amigurumi Doll

Come and meet this cute cat! His sweet little face (and stripey ears!) just makes you want to snuggle him! I love the way his snout is a separate color from the rest of his head and how the whisker "spots" and embroidered nose and mouth are the perfect finishing touches. And don't forget those little apple-cheeked blushes!

His designer has named this cute kitty "Lucretius", most likely after the ancient Roman poet and philosopher. And he certainly has the look of a philosopher with his proper little bow tie and his stripey suit. He's up for long deep discussions about the meaning of life over a good glass of wine or some excellent coffee. Or he just wants to snuggle. Either way, you'll be in good company!

Happy crocheting!

About This Pattern:

This pattern has been translated and published in this article with permission of the original designer: Ana Artedetei. This super-crafty person has filled her aptly named "Hyperactive Mothers" website with examples and patterns of all her crafts, including fabric flowers and stuffed animals, bespoke t-shirts, bags and purses, surgical caps, knitted hats and scarfs, felted decorations, a wide array of Halloween costumes (including an AWESOME Tetris group costume, that you háve to check out!), costume jewelry, and (ofcourse!) really cute amigurumi crochet patterns. In short: her website is most certainly worth a browse, if only to get inspired to do a little more in your day... The "Cat In Striped Pajamas" pattern featured in this article is available in the original Spanish on Ana's website. Go check it out!

You Will Need:

White, gray, cream and dark beige yarn
Black safety eyes
Black embroidery thread
Stripey fabric for the ears
Poly-fil, or other material for stuffing
Permanent marker (for freckles) and a bit of rouge (blusher)

Abbreviations

Inc – increase (2 sc in one stitch)
Dec – decrease (2 sc together to one stitch)
slst - slipstitch
skst – skip stitch
hdc – half double crochet

Please Note:

This pattern is not crocheted in spirals, but in closed rounds. Every round is started with one chained stitch (which doesn’t count as a stitch) and closed with a slipstitch. This way the color changes are invisible.
