I've been crocheting since I was a little girl. Since then I've designed for magazines and offer free patterns at my site.

You'll find a wide variety of free sock patterns here. Included are children's, ladies and men's sizes. Some of the heavier weight ones, would work to use as slippers or in boots. Ones that use the lighter weight yarns will work with your shoes.

Socks make nice gifts for everyone in the family. If you make a few extra pairs they sell well at bazaars to. If you are like my family, there isn't such as thing as too many pairs of socks.

Jenny, If it calls for a sports weight yarn, use a heavier yarn and bigger hook instead and see what size it turns out. Otherwise, there are so many free patterns out their that you should be able to find one that you like.

Thanks for sharing. I love socks in the wintertime but have never had a crocheted pair. My hubby does have some slippers my mother made him years ago and he loves them.
