Free Sock Pattern To Knit Bejeweled

Updated on July 15, 2016

A new Pattern

I have had so much fun creating this my first sock pattern..I hope you will enjoy knitting it as much as I have.

I have named the sock "Bejeweled" as the colors remind me of jewels, such as, Emeralds, Sapphires and Topaz.

Although I am quite sure that it will look nice in any color.

Bejeweled has now become my favorite pattern, I am sure that I will be knitting a few more pair.

Knitting The Bejeweled Sock

I used the Magic Loop method in knitting this sock, however it can just as easily be worked using DPN'S.

US #2 circular knitting needles. Or a set of 4 US #2 DPN'S.

120 grams of sock weight yarn

yarn needle

CAST ON

Cast on 64 stitches , using the long tail cast on. Divide the stitches evenly (32 stitches ) on each needle if using the Magic Loop method..or ( 11 11 10 ) over 3 dpn's.

CUFF

Join in the round an work Knit 2, Purl 2 rib for 2 inches.

Rnd 4 Knit 1, Purl 1

Repeat rounds 1 - 4 until piece measures 6 inches (or the length that you wish).

HEEL FLAP

On the next round knit across 32 stitches , and turn. ( you will now be working across these 32 stitches ). As you create the heel flap.

Row 1 : (Wrong Side) Slip 1, purl to last stitch, turn.

Row 2 : (Right Side) Slip 1, knit 1, slip 1, knit 1 continue in this manner across heel until you reach the end. Turn

Repeat these two rows for 32 rows. You should now be ready to work a knit row.

Continue rows in this manner, until all stitches have been used and the heel turned. Then turn. On the next row knit across all of the heel stitches.

GUSSET & INSTEP

With same needle, pick up 1 stitch in each of the slipped stitches along the edge of the heel flap and pickup 1 stitch in the corner to avoid a hole.

Work in pattern across instep. (knit1, purl1 ).

Pickup stitches along heel flap, picking up the same amount of stiches as the other side.

Knit one round even.

Rnd 1; Knit to 3 stitches from end of needle, knit 2 together, knit 1. Instep stiches knit 1, slip, slip, knit, knit across to 3 stitches from end of needle, knit 2 together, knit 1.

K1, slip, slip, knit, knit to end of round.

Rnd 2: Knit

Repeat these 2 rounds until 64 stitches remain...REMEMBER TO WORK THE INSTEP IN PATTERN.

FOOT

Work instep in pattern. Work sole of sock in stockinette stitch.

Continue working in this manner until the sock is 2.25" less than the length of the foot.

TOE

Repeat these two rounds until 32 stitches remain and then continue round 1 until only 8 stitches remain on needles( so you are decreasing every round now) Rearrange your stitches so that you have 4 stitches on each needle. Kitchener the toe closed and weave in all of the ends. Block if you wish..
