Free Whimsical Graphics For Your Website & Projects
So What's With The Whimsy?
Maybe it's a childhood nostalgia thing, but I love combing through the web looking for whimsical, old-fashioned, and fantasy-inspired media. It's like rummaging through an old house and finding boxes of knick knacks, history, cool painting, books, and all sorts of mysteries.
Movies helped as well. Films like , "The Last Unicorn""Legend", and "Ferngully" The Last Rainforest" were major creative inspirations early on. It starting with drawing and painting, but once I become more involved with the internet in middle school, my interests in information, history, and fantasy lead me toward web content creation. "The Neverending Story"
Researching and compiling in-depth resource guides that can aid in creative inspiration is a hobby of mine. For this hub, I searched the web for an eclectic group of web images that reflect my personal tastes and are free to use for non-commercial use projects, like scrapbooks, greeting cards, decoupage, Christmas tree ornaments, and images the classroom and blogs.
These are also useful for elementary school, high school and undergraduate projects. Print out and use the following whimsical-themed clip art for poster board projects, creative writing class blogs, dioramas, decorative cut-outs, and many more of your DIY craft projects.
What's Your Style?
There's a lot of fantastic copyright-free/free to use media out there, and it's super fun to mine the web and curate a sample of favorites into one spot. If your aesthetic veers to the whimsical side as well, consider using the above clip art for your personal blog; shrink their size to create charming little icons, add them to your latest blog post, or attach them to your tweets to liven up your twitter page.

These free sweets n' treats graphics come in handy when you need to make last-minute school valentines and birthday greeting cards. Print them out on adhesive paper to make stickers for Valentine's Day and Easter crafts. Try shrinking them down to make little icons for DIY e-greeting cards, or cut them out and decoupage them onto thick pieces of cardboard for Christmas ornaments.

For the treasure trove of copyright-free images just perfect for whimsically inspired art projects, t-shirt iron-ons, holiday ornaments, greeting cards, baby shower cards, table setting décor, steampunk crafts and collages, and dioramas. These images were originally published during the late 1800s to the turn of the century. I curated the above birds n' nest themed images from The Graphics Fairy, probably one of the best curated free-use vintage graphics sites.
