Harry Potter Crochet: Luna's Scarf

Updated on January 24, 2012

Left--my scarf; Right--Luna's scarf

As she's known for her eccentricities, Luna Lovegood's clothes are often eye-catching and strange. Her scarf, though, is much subtler--a lacy, periwinkle-blue creation that really stands out.

This quick, lightweight scarf is a real spring treat!

Materials:

Hook size:

G6/4.00mm

Yarn:

I used Sugar 'n Cream pale blue, though you can try other textures and weights for a different look.

Pattern:

Ch 150

Row 1: ch 2, sk 2 ch, sl st in next ch

repeat across

Row 2: dc in each ch, ch 2, repeat

Row 3: ch 3, sc in ch-2 space,

*ch 3, sk next ch 2,

(dc, ch 3, dc) in ch-2 space,

ch 3, sk next ch 2,

(2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in next ch 2

repeat from * across

Row 4: 8 tr in each ch-3 space, ch 3,

(2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in each ch-2 space, ch 3

repeat across

Row 5: ch 4, *(2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in ch-2 space

ch 4, sk 2 tr,

sc in next 4 tr, ch 4

repeat from * across

Row 6: *ch 3, sl st in first ch to form picot

sc in next 5 sc

repeat from * across

Turn scarf over, and repeat pattern on the opposite side of the beginning chain to form a mirror image.

Thanks! Next week I'll post my newest Harry Potter creation--a Ron doll that matches Harry.

Really wish I knew how to crochet! Not only is this a beautiful scarf, it's doubly awesome because it's Harry Potter inspired!
