Designed from the Heart:)

This drawing was not sketched out in pencil previous to the pen being applied. I have to say I was surprised how this came about. Drawing freely, without planning ahead is something I don't do too often. Art is fun, and this was fun to do, just to apply the pen to the paper and see what came out.

I really feel, this art represents us, in that we were uniquely and carefully planned. We were each given our own set of prints, voice, body, eyes, and hair. We were preplanned, with all our imperfections we were made perfect.

Approaching a piece of art paper or a canvas, can be difficult in itself at times. Without sketching it out, I would say that the seeds of art had been planted, well ahead of time. The art that was drawn with no sketch in mind, comes from the heart.

All of creation is beautiful, with all of our unique differences, we have to function together. Together as one unit is the best. We can still be ourselves made up of different colors and shapes, styles and characters. Be side by side, not offending the other. When we can compliment each others gifts and qualities, we can all move through life at a smoother pace.

Love one another, is sometimes easier said than done, in this real material world. Being unselfish and caring, may have to be, a learned art. Sometimes we may have to clean up our canvas, or start with a new piece of paper. Forgiving others is not always the easiest thing to do, yet it needs to be done. We need a fresh start in life, to put the old to rest. On with the new, some say!

We are a canvas, people look at us and size us up. People add to our lives as it is, being painted out. There is always a beginning, so there will be an end. What are you adding to your painting, to make it a beautiful piece of art? When people think of you what picture do they paint?

Think....what is your life about? Do you like what you see in the painting? Where are you in your painting? Picture if you were in the painting, what would be the scene, and how would you change it to make it better.

I have learned something really profound in my life recently: if you keep doing the same thing, don't expect different results. Also making a choice to change something physical, can change a habit or feeling, even change your life. The end result is to have different results:)

You as well as I have probably heard these sayings many times. Yet applying changes to my own life, takes a conscious effort. Our family is learning to respond rather than re-act. This is a big change for all of us, and frankly it is so awesome, to have a new family:)

So art can be applied in more than one way in our lives, I encourage you to do something you haven't done before! Of course a new positive action, would be a good thing for your pictured life.

Have fun and I pray your picture becomes a Masterpiece!

Sand Video

Want to try it, get a black pen & drawing paper out!

OK, here we go. Think about what you want to draw. Do you want to draw a specific item? For instance you could draw a flower and then fill in the flower peddles and leaves.  Just add some lines. As you can see above, you can put stripes, dots, squares, you name it, you claim it on paper.

If you do not have a specific item you want to draw, just put a line down any old way. You can continue to draw off of that, or put new shapes in blank areas on the page.  Work your drawing back and forth, and bring the two empty spaces together, as if you were building a bridge of art:)

Making your drawing, in black ink on white/off white drawing paper is the best. Then you can make as many photocopies as you wish on card stock. It is nice to make a copy on regular computer paper for practicing what colors you want to apply when you get your copy. What is so great about this, is that if you make a mistake it will not ruin your original. Copying your original gives you the freedom to make any size you want. Cost of copying is also less expensive, paying for just black and white copies.  My family loves to get art from me, just in the black and white stage. They like to color, and I like to see the different color variations they come up with.

Don't worry about making things perfect. This is something I usually always do, but not this time. I actually started this one, just experimenting. The shapes are not all perfect....I really thought about re-doing the whole thing when it was done. Because to me, it was going to just be a sketch. Then our kids saw it and said you have to finish it!  You have to get it done, so we can color it. They inspired me, to go ahead and not fix the imperfections.

I had an art teacher once say: "It is good, if there are imperfections, so people know it was hand done, and not done on a computer." So this was against my nature, not to re-do it. Also, I have to say how great gel pens work to cover up mistakes:)

One of the things I enjoy creating, is custom designing peoples names.  Using their colors, likes and favorite things.  Many times people would ask, if the drawings were done on the computer? I was embarrassed to say no, because I truly am not one to be the center of attention. The challenge of the whole art thing for me, is creating something new and different. Art that brings happiness and joy to a person. It is nice to see their face light up with excitement when a name is drawn for their kids. Especially those unique names, where you can't find pins, or name tags for.

You could create your own name tags to put on gifts of those you love. They may keep it and put in in there room, in a scrap book, on their door, or plaster it to their notebook! So have some fun, come up with something new!

I hope this site inspires you with your drawing, or maybe doing something you never thought you could do! Would like to hear any success stories you may have about drawing abstract or graphic art!

Fabric, Music, Clothing, Words?

What inspires you to be creative? Sometimes for me it is people. Clothing in the thrift store, is quite fun! Looking at the 70's prints, is inspiring to me! There are some wild looking prints found on those clothes from the 70's.

I picked few items up at the thrift store that inspired me!  Do you get inspired by prints or a combination of colors to redecorate a room or a kitchen. Finding some used clothing with some of these great prints, and making some throw pillows out of them, or some aprons.

One time I found a kids pair of pants, with this wild print on them....made me think how cool it would be to make a small purse out of them for some young girl.

If you need something to challenge you to draw, you can find something? Surprise Yourself!

Art is not only a gift, it is an experience!

What Do You Like To Draw or Paint?

See results

If your life was pictured...Where would you be? What would be the scene? What would you add to your canvas, to help picture where you want to be?

LasanthaW, thanks so much for reading another hub:) I too love to draw, yet don't do it enough. I have a drawing we just ran across the other day! Inspired from a hub, I put together.."My love language is Art?" I need to finish it as well! My problem is I have too many projects, and not enough time? Your couch sounds so does seem that it is a great place for you to draw my friend!

I enjoyed your video. It's a nice creation. Yes. "We have got a friend" Heart4theword. And the whole of your hub is a beautiful creation and the reader is encouraged to read your hub from beginning to end.

Your art too is a nice work. Although I am not a professional artist or at least close to that, whenever I am free, I use to draw something on a piece of paper or may be somewhere else. We have a large sofa at home with a cushion made of a gold colour velvet satin fabric. At times when I rest on this sofa, I draw various things on it and again different picture on the previous one and so on like the sand art in your video.

Now I must try the sand art also. Thanks for sharing this great work.

Nicely done, and Merry Christmas to you!

I would be at the top of a majestic mountain with both hands stretched way up high and eyes looking upward to the heavens, saying thank you, up there!

      Sincerely, Art
