How to Knit a Baby Hat with Double Pointed Needles! Pink Cabled Baby Hat Free Knitting Pattern.

Updated on April 16, 2016

This Pink Cabled Baby Hat is knitted with double pointed needles also called DPNs. I put cables, a little bit fun far yarn and a pom pom for decoration on the hat. Some beginners are afraid of using double pointed needles. It is a challenge to hold many needles instead of two simple single pointed needles.

Actually, it is not very difficult but also an interested knitting way. Knitting small things by using DPNs is a very basic and oldest method for knit in the round. There are no wrong sides and you are always facing right sides, so it is easier to knit. One thing you have to take care is to knit tightly the first stitch on every needle to avoid the uneven stitches.

I thoroughly show about it in the following video demonstration. If you know how to knit with a circular needle and magic loop method, you can also use it for this free pattern. Have a happy knitting and wear your baby cute!

I knitted the beanie, and I am really happy with it.

      Do you have a pattern for a 3 - 6 months pattern.

I just need to know how many stitches to cast on and when to decrease for the top on the beanie etc.

Hi creporter22, After you drop the fun far yarn, no need to add the yarn again in repeated rounds. I also made the correction in the pattern instructions. Thank you for pointed this. Enjoy!

I am working on this adorable hat right now. It is so cute. But there is one part I am finding confusing. It says Round 9, add fun fur. After Round 10, drop it. Then you go up to Round 14 and repeat Rounds 9-14 three more times. Are you really supposed to repeat Round 9 and 10 three times? I have a lot of fun fur at my hat and no visible cable stitch. Could this be a misprint? Any help would be so appreciated! Thank you!
