How to draw a table
I've done a lot of looking around at other peoples' tutorials and I noticed that I haven't seen very many dealing with furniture. I decided that I wanted to create a tutorial based around drawing a furniture piece.
In today's hub, you will be learning how to draw a wooden table. The table will be somewhat 3 dimensional and isometric in appearance. To me, a frontal view of a table wouldn't be as interesting looking than an isometric view would be. So I hope this tutorial will give you a bit of insight on isometric objects. I plan to do several more in the near future, one including a simple isometric house.
Proceed with the first step to begin. :)
We're going to start off with the table top first. Start with by drawing the upper left corner of the table top.
Next, draw the rest of the table top as shown on the right. You will have a basic outline for a table top at this point. In the next step, we will add depth and dimension to the table.
If you can think about the general shape of a rectangular table, you will see that it has dimension on each side. Examine the example picture on the right to get a better idea of what I'm talking about. Use it as a guide for this next step.
Now that the table top is completed, it's time to move on to drawing the four legs on the table. To start, simply draw four long/thin rectangular shapes under each corner of the table.
The legs should also have some dimension like the table top does.
Lastly, if you want your table to have an aged, wooden look, you will want to draw in some wood lines on the table. You can make them as subtle or as thick as you'd like.
That's all! A decent looking table will be the results of these steps.
