I'm a knitter, mother, sister, and friend who likes to write cute and simple knitting patterns for babies.

Are you thinking to knit simple mittens for your little baby? This pattern is the one, which is so simple and easy to knit. It has no cables, no color work, just includes basic knit and purl stitches. It can simply warm your baby's little hands in cooler weather and but also no more scratches on baby face. It is knitted in the round by using double pointed needles and absolutely seamless. You can knit them in a day by doing house chores and great gift for baby shower too. If you are a beginner, you can watch the following YouTube video for details.

Knitting Instructions

This pattern has two sizes, which are newborn to 6 months and 6 to 12 months. Mittens in the pictures are knitted with category 4 medium worsted weight yarn, Caron Simply Soft and you will need approximately 42 yards.

A set of US 6/ 4 mm double pointed needles, yarn needle

22 sts x 30 rows = 4" x 4" in Stocking Sts

K = knit

P = purl

M1L (single increase) = From the front, lift strand between stitches with left needle, knit into back of loop

K2tog = knit two stitches together

(1st, 2nd) = First number in parentheses is for smaller size and second number is for larger size

Let's start!

Cast on (24, 32) stitches on 3 DPNs. Make sure not to twist and join yarn to knit in the round.

Rounds 1-14: (K1, P1) around.

Round 15: (K4, M1L) around. (30, 40) sts

Round 16: K around.

Round 17: (K5, M1L) around. (36, 48) sts

Rounds 18-26: K around.

Round 27: (K4, K2tog) around. (30, 40) sts

Round 28: K around.

Round 29: (K3, K2tog) around. (24, 32) sts

Round 30: K around.

Round 31: (K2, K2tog) around. (18, 24) sts

Round 32: K around.

Round 33: (K1, K2tog) around. (12, 16) sts

Round 34: K around.

Round 35: K2tog around. (6, 8) sts

Cut yarn about 8”. With yarn needle, draw the tail through the remaining stitches, pull tightly, pull to the inside of the mitt and weave in the ends. Don't forget to make second one. Enjoy!

      Excellent pattern! They knit up really quick and are so easy to adapt. I changed them up a bit for a baby set I'm making.

      Row 1-5: k1p1 rib around

      Row 6: knit around

      Row 7: *k1, yo, k2tog* repeat around (need to cast on an extra stitch for it to work with the larger size)

      Row 8 & 9: knit around

      Then follow pattern as posted for rows 15-35.

      Gives a shorter cuff with a pretty eyelet row.
