Why would you want to make this rose? I love wearing solid colors, don't you? Clothing pieces of solid colors are much easier to match and the same outfit, with a few accessory changes could be day or night-time attire. However, beautiful accessories are a must for a solid color dress or blouse. If you don't accessorize, the clothes looks boring and unfinished. But if you accessorize too much, then accessories take too much attention away from the person who is wearing them.
Having a styling handmade brooch is the perfect solution. Flower is a very safe, yet elegant choice when it comes to decorating your dress or blouse. Choose the color you like, you don't have to stick with the usual red or pink. Lavender, purple, blue or even black could give your clothes an extra splash of color it needs. To make this flower pin you will need:
- Small beads of your choice. Depending on their size, you will need between 8 and 20 of them.
- 1 yard of thin semi-translucent fabric like nylon or polyester/nylon mix. To use smaller pieces of fabric you might already have, use several different colors that naturally complement each other.(Example of combinations would be white, pink and red, or lavender and purple, or white and light yellow.)
- Matches and candle, or gas lighter
- Metal clip
- Hot glue (optional)
Cut 5 to 8 circles of various sizes. The largest should be 5.5 inches in diameter.
Use a small flame, like this of a match, candle or a lighter, to singe the sides of the circles. Be careful not to burn your fingers
Place all the circles together, in order. Biggest should be at the bottom, smallest on top.
Use thread and needle to sew small beads into the middle of the flower circles. Go through all the circles of fabric as you sew in the beads.
Connect a pin to the back of the flower. You could do this with hot glue or thread.
