All little girls love arts&craft projects.

My granddaughter loves to do arts & craft projects! She enjoys making them and giving them away to family and friends. There is nothing better than to have someone give you something they made from the heart.

The other day we are at the dollar store and she had a few dollars to spend, and she saw this kit which you could make Forest Fairies. The kit is simply called " Curiosity Kits", and it is geared for ages 6+, she is 12 yrs old. So anyway she just had to have it. When we got to my house she opened it up right away.

The Curiosity kit makes 5 Forest Fairies, and comes with directions on how to make them. The kit includes assorted flower petals and 1 leaf, 2 pieces of ribbon, 5 pipe cleaners, 2 skeins of embroidery floss, 1 piece of cord and glue. All you need to supply are scissors and a fine point permanent markers.

After Shelly had made her little fairy dolls, she decided to add more details to the fairies. She gave them beads for shoes, and made wands for them and put beads in the yarn hair, she also glued tiny magnets to the back, as she has decided they will be some of the prizes that will be given out at the Halloween party at my job, which I put on each year for my residents.

After buying this kit we have a bunch of new ideas for some new doll craft projects. We are going back to the dollar store and buying more supplies, which will include clothespins and bunches of fake flowers that we can take apart and use the petals for dresses, just like in the kit. We hope to update Shelly's doll ideas soon, and to pass on some cute, inexpensive, easy and fun activities that will bring hours of fun for children. The imagination of a child is a wonderful thing. When children are making crafts they are in a magical world where anything is possible. The look of joy when they complete a project is priceless.

Another fun craft project for the little ones would be Sun catchers. You can buy them at the dollar store as well. And it is a wonderful tool, in which to help teach them to stay inside the lines. Most of the Sun catchers will come with a paint brush and paint. All you will need to buy are the small suction cups, so that they can be hung up, or they can even turn them into fridge magnets as well.

And of course beads are always fun to use. Kids love to make necklaces and bracelets, they can even be used as an accent on a drawing, or even decorate a little wooden box, which can also be bought at the dollar store. The wooden boxes will come unpainted, so they can paint them before decorating them with the beads, or even painted pasta shells will work, and this will make a really fun filled craft project. Especially on a dreary rainy day when they are stuck inside the house all day.

Also if you have birds in the home, you could make homemade bird toys, which is so much fun, and you can let your imagination take over, and add all kind of things, as long as they are birdie safe. You can use beads, bells, Popsicle sticks, and pipe cleaners. Even twigs from the yard, just be sure to clean them safely. And making bird toys is a great idea, because we all know how expensive they can be to buy in the store.

So there you have it, just a few fun craft project idea's for just a few dollars!

Voted up and useful. I love to craft with children. Their energy and excitement are contagious. I agree there is no better gift than a gift someone made.
