Knifty Knitter Green Long Loom Patterns

Updated on February 12, 2018

I love to share my favorite patterns on the web for people out there who like making things as much as I do!

Each of the patterns are specifically for the green long loom, including a child's hair scarf, a hooded scarf, and a collar and cuffs made with fun fur yarn. I like to use this loom to knit pillows and squares to make afghans. It's also useful to make totes and scarves. This is the second longest of the long looms, with the blue loom being longer. It's not bulky and easy to turn as you knit. The long looms offer a variety of possibilities for creating double panel knit stitches that aren't possible on the round looms, making them a great option for someone that wants to learn new loom knitting stitches.

Free Hooded Scarf Pattern by Kathy Underwood

for the 18 Inch Green Long Knifty Knitter Loom

This free hooded scarf pattern is available from Provo Craft, the manufacturer of the Knifty Knitter looms. It's a fun pattern because the scarf is sewn together to form a hood that is very convenient and will keep you toasty warm in the winter. The scarf is knitted by wrapping 22 pegs, either as single or double panel knit. These 22 pegs are knitted for 235 rows to make a very long scarf. It's then folded in half and stitched up the back with a yarn needle to create a hood.

You will need:
* Knifty Knitter long 18 inch green loom
* Knifty Knitter hook
* 7-8 skeins of Wool Ease Yarn in Spring Green (or color of choice)
* Yarn Needle
* Pom Pom Maker

Green Long Loom

The green long loom is 18 inches and it is the second longest loom in the long loom set. The only loom longer is the blue loom, which is 22 inches. Because it is a nice long loom, this one is often used for wide knit. Because it is a double rake loom, it can be knitted along one side for single panel knit, or along both sides for double panel knit. All of the long looms allow for specialty stitches that can't be knitted on a round loom, such as the double panel "honeycomb stitch."

Green Long Loom Baby Blanket

This is a baby blanket pattern for the green loom by Karen at the Knitting with Looms blog. It's knitted as a single panel, leaving 3 pegs open at one end. It uses bulky weight (5) yarn. To make the ribbed look, Karen knits 3 pegs and then skips a peg, repeating this pattern across each row. When she finished she used a shell stitch around the edge, much like I did in the baby blanket pattern I designed for the blue long loom back in April of 2012. In my blanket I used the fashion stitch rather than a ribbed stitch. Karen's blanket turned out very pretty and it's the perfect size for a stroller or car seat. I also enjoy the soft blue and yellow hues that she chose for the yarn.

Patriotic US Flag Placemat for the Knifty Knitter Loom

This is a patriotic pattern for the green long loom. Many loom knitters have told me they make these in advance for their Fourth of July celebrations. It's done with a simple ewrap, so no special looming skills are necessary. I recommend not cutting the yarn as you change colors in this project.

You will need:

  • Knifty Knitter green long loom
  • Yarn needle
  • 1 skein Claret or Red yarn
  • 1 Skein Aren or White yarn
  • 1 Skein Navy Blue or Royal yarn
  • 4 Wooden Stars, 1 Inch wide
