Knit For Charity

Knitting Charity for Breast Cancer Patients

Join this knitting charity and knit for knockers

Are you looking for a knitting charity that's just a little bit different? If you are, how about Knitting for Knockers!'s just exactly what you think. This is a fun knitting project, that is for charity, but with a twist. Learn all about how these women are knitting to help breast cancer survivors and doing it with a sense of humor!

Promote Breast Cancer Awareness and help women all over at the same time.

The goal is to see knitted knocker groups across the country and around the world. While they try to provide a knitted breast to every survivor who contacts them, it is difficult to keep up with the need. By establishing local groups in as many locations as possible, we will not only be better positioned to aid mastectomy patients, we will also spread the word to survivors, oncology units, and other medical professionals, that a free and comfortable alternative is available.

Because women and breast come in different sizes , you get to chose the size that you would like to knit, you can knit your size, someone else's size..or knit all sizes... You can make one or a hundred and one.. You can knit at your own pace, on your own time, in your own home. Or join a local group and knit together with others.. The knocker sizes are A - DD.

Perhaps you would like to start a BOOB-A-THON.

To join or start a group in your area ..Please visit ......Knitting For Charity

Check out the pattern and see if this is something that you would be able to do....Tit Bits @Knitty

Or Knitted Breast..Lactation Consultants Of Great Britain.

Women who have undergone mastectomies have limited options for prosthetic. Cheap, lumpy foam, or expensive, heavy silicone have been the only options available.

I had no idea, that just one silicone prosthetic breast costs between $300 and $500?! Did you ?

Without health insurance, they are out of the reach of most breast cancer survivors.

Even those with insurance are limited to a new prosthetic breast every two years.

If it springs a leak that is not covered by the warranty, you are out of luck.

part 3..Finishing A Knocker

Crochet A Knocker

The knitty Bitty Titty Committee is an effort to help mastectomy patients obtain free or low-cost knitted prostheses instead of the traditional expensive, heavy silicone versions.

If you do not knit , but . crochet and would like to help out...

The crochet pattern Size A-DD can be found by following this link ..The Happy Hooker Blog

THAT is a VERY worthy cause. After cancer, so many people suffer and feel insecure about their looks. This is a great charity. Can I add your hubpage link to my hubpage on Needpoint "Charities?" My readers might really enjoy doing this! :) Let me know. ~Michele

I love doing charity work. I'm a tiny bit confused. Are we knitting fake boobs that girls can put in their bras (girls with breast cancer)? I would love to knit for a worthy cause. That is my passion in life - helping others. Michele

What a great idea! I knit, I just don't have time to knit as often as I'd like to. I do have a friend who knits more often and she likes to help out others. I'll share this with her. Thank you for getting the word out!
