Original Designs in Hand Crafted Beaded Micro Macrame Jewelry.

Updated on April 7, 2015

KnotGypsy Designs Mini ShowCase

Do you like beaded jewelry?

Do you want to find something original, beautiful, and durable?

I invite you to take a look at my work. I think you may just like what you see. Everything I make, I have designed myself. I specialize in beaded micro macrame jewelry.

Or, maybe you want to learn how to make it yourself...scroll down and see the patterns/tutorials I have to offer (a couple of them are FREE). I also offer kits of materials for those who want to "just try one out" before going out to buy all the materials in bulk.

I welcome comments and questions...so, if you have something to say or ask...see my guest book at the end of this lens.

So, come on, have a look...

Learn How to Make It Yourself

Want to learn how to make beautiful and unique beaded jewelry? Why not give Micro Macrame a try...

To get you started, I offer the following "free downloads":

The Basics (including the basic knots, materials, tips and terminology)

Spirals Anklet or Bracelet, Lariat Necklace, and Hoop Earrings Patterns

Waves Bracelet Pattern

Find more of my patterns for sale at my Etsy shop

I also have an ArtFire Studio where I often offer some kits.

..or just keep scrolling to find my Etsy and ArtFire modules.

I provide continued support and am happy to answer any questions you may have. Contact information included inside every pattern.

ShowCase - Spirals Anklet or Bracelet - Simply Elegant or Simply Casual

The first real design I came up with was this simple "Spirals Anklet" design (one of the free downloads mentioned above) - And it was published as a project in Step By Step Bead Magazine summer 2008..

ShowCase - Waves Bracelet - Another Simply Elegant Design...

Another simple but elegant design is "Waves". Primarily made of Square Knots and plenty of beads, this design is an opportunity to play with color themes. See "Learn How to Make it Yourself" above for links to (free download) of this pattern/tutorial.

ShowCase - Fans Bracelet, Necklace, and Earrings - A Popular Design

One of my favorites - It reminds me of the 1930s glitz & glamour. Yes, pattern/tutorial available, see module “Learn to Make it Yourself” (above) for links.

ShowCase - Serpentine Bracelet - Classic temptation

I was wondering what "Fans" would look like if the double half-hitches were oriented differently...and "Serpentine" was born. Yes, pattern/tutorial available, see module “Learn to Make it Yourself” (above) for links.

ShowCase - Gypsy and Victorian Lace Jewelry Sets - A fork in the road

Using primarily Lark's Head knots, Gypsy Lace has the more "open" look while Victorian Lace is more "dense". Yes, pattern/tutorial available, see module “Learn to Make it Yourself” (above) for links.

ShowCase - Diamonds Jewelry Set - Simple does not have to be boring

One of my favorites to wear and to make. Yes, pattern/tutorial available, see module “Learn to Make it Yourself” (above) for links.

ShowCase - Tapestry Bracelet - Going off in a Whole New Direction

Results of playing with some ideas that flashed through my mind one night as I was trying to fall asleep, this bracelet reminds me of a tapestry. A beaded tapestry. Yes, pattern/tutorial available, see module “Learn to Make it Yourself” (above) for links.

ShowCase - Arrow Bracelet - Pointing in the right direction

This is what happened when I wanted to find a way to use bugle beads. Yes, pattern/tutorial available, see module “Learn to Make it Yourself” (above) for links.

ShowCase - Criss Cross Bracelet - Not your usual suspect

Fun and Flirty! Yes, pattern/tutorial available, see module “Learn to Make it Yourself” (above) for links.

ShowCase - Basic Angle Bracelet - Basic can mean many things

Simple and full of possibilities. Yes, pattern/tutorial available, see module “Learn to Make it Yourself” (above) for links.

ShowCase - Lattice Bracelet and Earrings - Easy to make and easy to wear

Lattice is one of my earlier designs. Once again, I wanted to use some bugle beads and this is what I came up with. I like the open "lattice" effect of this design. It gives it an airy feel. Yes, pattern/tutorial available, see module “Learn to Make it Yourself” (above) for links.

ShowCase - Tubular Necklace and Bangle Bracelet - Knots taken to the next level

I wanted a bit of a challenge and tried what I like to call "knotting in the round". I think I like the results. Yes, pattern/tutorial available, see module “Learn to Make it Yourself” (above) for links.

Book Review - Micro-Macrame: 30 Beaded Designs for Jewelry Using Crystals and Cords - Great new book on making micro macrame jewelry.

Micro-Macrame: 30 Beaded Designs for Jewelry Using Crystals and Cords
Micro-Macrame: 30 Beaded Designs for Jewelry Using Crystals and Cords

I first encountered the author (Annika deGroot) through her blog "Annika's Atelier" (www.annikaatelier.blogspot.com) right after I started my own blog on micro macrame. She makes all kinds of beautiful things (not just micro macrame). We corresponded a bit back and forth over the next couple of years, checking into each other's blogs upon occasion. I found her to be a delightful and talented woman.

Recently, she contacted me to review her new book. I accepted right away and she sent me an advance copy.

At first glance, I fell in love. What a lovely book with 30 projects in varying degrees of difficulty and a wide variety of projects - from bracelets to ornaments, from victorian to deco - Something for everyone!

Then, this past weekend, I had a chance to delve deeper. You know, try one of the projects to see how the instructions worked out. (And, yes, I could not wait to make one of her designs for my own personal use!)

I made the "Stained Glass Bracelet" without too much trouble.

I had one question which she answered right away and said that anyone buying her book could contact her through her website (www.annikadegroot.com) or her blog (www.annikaatelier.blogspot.com) and she would be happy to answer any questions.

I really cannot say enough about this book. It has beautiful photos, is well written and would provide anyone (beginner or expert) with plenty of projects and inspiration for quite some time...and isn't that really what it is all about?

I value comments and questions. I'd love to know you were here. Won't you sign my guest book and leave a blurb?

Talk to me - Leave your comments and let me know you were here.

Absolutely gorgeous work! I've made smallish knotted jewelry for years but my work is more macrame with beads for embellishment not this exquisite tiny beadwork you make.

      @anonymous: You are welcome!

As for the glue, it is a fabric glue - the kind used to glue things to fabric like on T-shirts. It dries clear, is flexible and waterproof. I usually find it at hobby stores and hobby sections of stores like Walmart. I just did a google search for "fabric glue" and found several varieties. Hope this helps.

      anonymous 4 years ago

@KnotGypsy Designs: thank you for answering. Yes I did find the "the basics", I just couldn't find the glue you are using, they didn't seem to have it where I buy materials. I will have to look online. And yes, I do use buttons, I love the buttons and the tassels, the problem is that when I make a bracelet for someone without accurate measurement (like my daughter's teacher) I have to guess the wrist size, so I would rather not use button, I add instead a piece of chain to add extra length if necessary. Thank you so much for your help and I will keep following your posts. I m looking forward to see your book.

Hi, I have been admiring your work on this page and your webpage. I think your designs are truly beautiful and I love sparkly things. I have tried a few macrame projects myself and I found it addictive. I'm still learning and sometimes I get confused on what is best to use. For exampIe, I tried a glue I purchased at the bead store, and it made the ends very stiff, what glues be best to use on macrame?..about trimming the ends, I'm always afraid if I cut too close it will unreavel...or how about the clasps and split rings? I bought some again at the bead store, but after a while of wearing the bracelet the gold color wore off, and I made sure I didn't wet it. Do you buy sterling silver and real gold? They seem quite pricey!?!?..so many questions and even online I didn't find any answers.. where do a beginner like me go to get help? If you could give me a few tips I will be forever grateful, and it might help someone else at the same time. Wishing you the best of luck with your projects.

@anonymous: I have taken that pattern off line for revision. It will probably be after the holidays before I can get back to it. Sorry, but after revision it will include instructions for a necklace as well. If you really want a copy of the original ($2.00), contact me through my website (http://www.knotgypsydesigns.com/contact.html) and I will set up a "reserved for..." listing for you at my ArtFire shop.

Thank you for your question! I don't know about D-lon, but C-lon is one of my favorites! C-lon is made of nylon and will fit comfortably through most size 11 seed beads. Micro C-lon is just like C-lon, but much thinner so as to fit through even smaller beads. I hope this answers your question. Please ask more if needed.

    • profile image

      anonymous 9 years ago

I love your creativity! I have a question re c-lon cording. Can you please help? What is the difference between, c-lon, d-lon and micro c-lon? I know it probably pertains to the diameter but to what extent? What beads fit on what string? I haven't run into many people who know a lot about this cording.

      Thanks for your advise.

Wow, your work is beautiful! I did this type of craft back in about 1973. I made some macrame neckpieces involving cord, beads, and feathers! They were quite lovely, and not hard to do as I recall.

Thanks for providing pics for such amazing pieces of art.
