This craft idea came from a story - Owl Babies. The story is about 3 baby owls, Sarah, Percy and Bill, The babies are worried about their mom. It's a sweet book idea if you are looking for stories with owls in them to read to the kids.

To make these baby owls you will need:

  • Black cardstock paper
  • Brown paper lunch sack
  • Black marker
  • Craft glue stick
  • White acrylic paint
  • Pom-pom - Large size
  • A Clothespin
  • Small paper plate
  • Small paper bowl
  • Gold glitter glue
  • Circular foam brush
  • A Yellow crayon
  • Construction paper - brown, black, white and orange

Put the glitter on the black background

Make the brown paper bag perch - you can add squiggly lines and knot holes with your marker

Put the pom-pom onto the clothes pin, dip it in the acrylic paint and dab 2 or 3 circles to make your owl's body. Take a look at the picture to see just how to do this

Cut out 1" circles in brown construction paper, 1/2" circles in black construction paper, and tiny white circles in white construction paper - those will become the eyes.

Paper Owl Craft For Kids

JDaniel4's Mom made an owl out of some construction paper and cupcake liners. The cupcake liners are just the right size for an owl's big eyes! Tear up some paper, draw an owl and glue the cut up strips onto him...now that looks just like feathers. Orange paper cut to look like a beak and some claws help complete the body. Now cupcake liners are glued to the head, yellow circles of paper glued into them, and smaller black circles glued onto the yellow...and what do you have? A paper owl craft that's easy and fun. Let all the glue dry and then glue your entire owl onto a sheet of black paper to enhance the simple beauty of this easy project.
