Necklace Sizes and Types
Unlike the bracelets the necklace size really depends on the style that you choose. Bracelets are essentially ruled strictly by size but necklaces offer a completely different game - a game of length.
Do first choose your type of necklace.
If you are seeking to draw attention to your neckline choose a necklace in the range of 16"-18".
Don't be afraid to change it up a bit.
Variety is the spice of life and the biggest design decision starts first with what your focal point will be for your outfit.
Yes, the design of your necklace will depend upon the neckline types you will be wearing.
Do have a variety in your wardrobe and you will find it this change can provoke a whole new look for you.

Different Design Ideas
The beauty of the Pandora charms is not just the intricacies of the charms but it is the variety of the necklaces (and bracelets and/or matching bracelets) that you can create.
If you start with a theme you will be able to pull together your design quicker and easier. Do remember, you can layer both your necklaces and your bracelets so don't feel that you must pick only one. Do stay focused.
Fair warning - charms are addicting and you will quickly become scattered (as I was - yes, I am speaking from experience with multiple designs started and not finished). But do allow time, remember it is the journey that should be rewarding not necessarily the end game in two minutes. Take your time to design a necklace you will wear at least once a week and be proud of and you will be delighted with the compliments that will follow.
Need some design ideas for your necklace, here are a few listed below to get your creative juices flowing are shown at the right.
My Personal Favorite - Celebrate Mom
My personal favorite necklace design is the one that celebrates Mom. Do choose a color that is her favorite. Keep it simple. You don't need to fill up the entire necklace. A simple three bead design is often all that is needed.
One of my favorite necklaces is one single Pandora bead (an authentic bead in pure sterling with all the proper Pandora markings). My best friend gave this to me for a bracelet but the necklace I fill showcases the design much better.

Cannot Go Wrong With Gold
I know gold has gone out of favor for a time being - but only in theory. I believe gold is always in style. The problem with gold is its price. The other problem is if we go to fashion jewelry for the gold, we often are plagued with nickle and nickle for most people is an irritant to the skin. So while my heading says you cannot go wrong with gold - guess what if you don't have quality, as is the case in most things in life, you can go astray.
Yes, I have some charms that must have nickle in them because they irritate my skin.
For necklaces, we can readily combat that with placing the necklace over our clothing.
So for necklace design, the end of the story, is with gold you cannot go wrong.
I love the look a gold necklace whether I layer it over a turtle neck or a simple summer t-shirt. To me the look of gold is timeless.

How to Design Your Pandora Bracelet
Design Option 1 - Add Color with Glass
The murano glass is an easy way to add color to your Pandora designs.
Design Option 2 - Add Color with Enamel
Enamel is another great way to add color.
Design Option 3 - Choose Different Texture Finishes - Alternate Types of Charms to Showcase Individual Charms
As the Pandora expert in the video to the right details, their recommendation for design is to choose a color theme but also to choose to add in different varieties so that the individual charms will stand out.
Remember, beyond color, don't forget the texture. Adding texture will make a big difference with your design.
Choose shiny and oxidized textures and alternate them throughout your design.
"If Haute couture is the most sublime form of fashion, H&M is fashion at its most democratic."
~ Rolf Snoeren
"I think there is a huge trend coming ... it's pure haute couture."

Does the term "haute couture" work when speaking about the many designs of Pandora Charms?
Design Option 4 - Repeat Charms - Achieve the Magazine Quality Look
In the video, the example is given where three charms are repeated throughout the design. Repeating the charms I have found will give you that magazine ready almost "haute couture" design quality. Haute couture is often reserved for clothes that are very expensive and fashionable and hand made. Yet this term I feel is very appropriate for the goal of the "magazine quality" Pandora style design.
Repeated Charms Create a Bold Statement
It is stated that when you repeat the charms, you create a bold statement. I prefer the reference to the haute couture over the "bold statement".
Design Option 5 - Add Texture By Adding Dangle Charms
Another great way to add texture is to add dangle charms. Dangle charms for the holidays are one of my favorites. Right now I am building a gold tone Christmas tree necklace with a gold dangle reindeer and a red stone Christmas cross.
Design Option 6 - Add Color with Gemstones
Design your Pandora style bracelet/necklace with color by adding glitz. Gemstones offer a variety of colors and now we have a thousands of options with CZ stones and imitation diamonds and precious gems.

Design Type Option #2 Traditional Pandora Style Necklace - Multiple Beads
This is the first necklace I started with and it remains a staple in my wardrobe. I love the textures and the colors and the fact that it takes the Pandora style into the traditional bead style necklace.
Elegant and fun - and that is what fashion and jewelry should always be about.
Isn't it interesting how one necklace has color and the other centers around texture with little tips of gold? Two similar types but the color and the texture completely changes up the look.
Traditional Snake Necklace with Snap Closure with Trio of Pandora Beads
Design Type #3 - Traditional with Trio of Beads
This one is my favorite. I know, I know no favorite children, no favorite necklace types. Also the single bead on a very fine chain is another of my favorites.
Pandora Necklace with a Clip Lock
Design Type Option #4 - Designing with a Pandora Clip Lock
The design of this Pandora necklace with the oxidized silver and the pearl, I find is striking in its simplicity. Who would have ever thought? For you see, there are real designers in this world who have the vision to bring this simple pieces together into one beautiful symphony.
Necklace Using a Double Ring
Design Type Option #5 - Designing Pandora Necklace with a Double Ring
The double ring design option shown here is with pink murano glass and oxidized charms.
