Photography for Fun and Profit : Extra earning by selling pics online

Updated on May 28, 2012

How to make money from photography?

If you have a digital camera and you like taking pictures, you could be earning money. If you just want to sell some regular snapshots, or perhaps a couple of shots of an amazing holiday tour or even take innovative and creative pics if you like semi-professionalism in photography, you can make money from your piece of photography.

There are many companies that provide images to photography magazines online, webmasters and others who need images for their business or personal use. These companies are more than willing to pay for good, high quality and original shots. This is where you come in! Selling your photos to these companies does not mean giving up your rights to them, it just means more money in your pocket.

Companies vary in what they are looking for. Some accept all that is decent quality, while others are more picky. This usually depends on the payment system. If a site offers unlimited downloads for a monthly fee, then it less willing to take plenty of snapshots and professional photos. A company that charges for each photo will be much more selective.

Payment for the selected photographs or photography work also differs from site to site. Some websites offer a flat fee, like $ 0.50 for the download of pictures, while others pay on a scale based on how popular is your shot. These are probably the best because they offer more money in the end, if you're good to photograph.

There are some general guidelines to follow when you take a picture to sell.

  • The light must be good. Avoid using the flash as this gives a flat, and really amateur photos. Natural light is better and there should be a good balance of black and white in the picture. Outdoor shots are ideal.
  • - In practice, the photograph must be clean. There must not be a lot of things happening in the background to distract from the main subject of attention. Photography companies really love white backgrounds, so if you can get pictures of things against a solid color, the better. Your pic will become. For example, an agreement on a perfectly white bell peppers would be ideal.
  • Allow yourself to take pictures which are interesting and innovative. There are already a zillion photos sunset out there, so why not one with a twist? Add a silhouette of a man and a woman kiss, or a child standing on the beach. Better yet, if you can get a running horse or other animal in the shot, you have a better chance of being accepted.
  • Symbols of photography are very useful for business and where you can take pictures that represent things like the balance and richness, probably make a good profit. These photos can be totally based on concept, as a handful of dollar bills tied to a tree branch or hanging in a row on a line of clothing.

Since you keep the copyright to the photo, you can sell over and over again. Try to put them in a variety of Web sites (research sites that allow it) to make the most of your photography.
