To make a pattern

The first step is the most important. You must create a pattern to follow. It can be made of paper. I sometimes used newspaper even. But there are special papers for patterns that are not so fragile. You can put needles through it and use it over and over again.

When you make this first pattern, take your time. Dont loose courage. Keep doing the nessecary changes and you will not be sorry. You can use your pattern a long time to a lot of clothes.

Even when you buy a ready made pattern you might need to change it to fit your body. We are all special and have different shapes and sizes. I have for one thing one size over the waist and two sizes larger below! I need to adjust the patterns accordingly!

I have more hubs to make you happy Big beautiful you!:

Do it yourself!

If you are a plus size women, it can be depressing to find nice modern clothes. All these mirrors in the try out huts is mercyless. I have many times thought that THIS one will be ok. But there is always a too narrow sleeve, a narrow collar or it is too short.

I descided to at least TRY to make my own basic clothes. To my surprice it is not difficult at all! Once you have a pattern ready and fitting, you can use it for so many different clothes. I for instance have the same pattern for night gowns as for dresses. The same for shorts as for pants.

What material you choose is also making a BIG difference. An evening dress can be just that if you choose silk or another expensive looking material.

Sewing for Plus Sizes

Sewing for Plus Sizes: Creating Clothes that Fit and Flatter
Sewing for Plus Sizes: Creating Clothes that Fit and Flatter

Given that most clothing manufacturers have never learned to design attractive, well-fitting clothes for women who wear a size 14 or larger, the woman who wants to achieve style beyond size must sew her own clothes. This book will make that task less formidable. Illustrated with photos of plus-sized models

Videos with many nice suggestions

These videos are just a few of many. I found the explanation and calmness very nice. Listen to the Monif C how she can change a dress like a sweet magician.

The material can always make a huge difference. Keep trying until you find your own style and what fits you.
