Recycled Crochet and Craft Projects

Crafts are a lot of fun to do, especially with young children. They love to learn new things, and being able to make something on their own is always a pleasure. However, crafts are not only just for young children as adults can have just as much fun at making things too.

The only thing with crafting is that some of the supplies can be expensive. But you can drastically reduce the cost by using recycled material for your some of your craft projects. Doing so will not only help you to save money, but it will also contribute to a cleaner environment.

I have seen many newspaper crafts, such as woven waste baskets and other baskets, pinatas and even furniture. Some of the newspaper crafts are so neatly crafted, that you would never know it was newspaper unless someone told you.

Another thing that is quite popular is the art of turning plastic bags into plastic yarn, also known as plarn. To me, plarn does not seem as strong as real yarn, however, the strength depends on the original strength of the plastic as well as how wide you cut it. You can use plarn to crochet bags, wallets, caps, appliques and many other neat things.

And this is a super cool idea for a playing card bowtie. Any young gentleman would enjoy wearing one of these cute bowties. To make this craft you will need an old deck of cards, scissors, glue, a button, felt and velcro to secure it. - Playing Card Bowtie
