Some of my art/ tattoo ideas ( Updated )

Updated on February 27, 2011

These are a few of my random ideas and/or tattoo designs. Really, they were just expressing myself through my pen. They don't have any special meanings, but I will say that some of these took a great amount of time and effort to create. These phone pictures aren't that great but it will have to do for now, until I get a camera.

I would, as always, appreciate any feedback or criticism to be offered, thanks for checking them out :]

I know the picture sucks, but if you look closely, you can see the painstaking detail i put into it.

This one was done pretty quickly, without much effort. I was trying to go for a simple, 3-D effect.

Once again, the camera cuts it off...this took up the whole page

I like the feel to these drawings, buddy. Next time try to put them on plan white paper instead of lined paper, I bet even you'll like them better.

Very interesting concepts here. I like the tribal feel to your work.

Yeah man, I appreciate your interest, and reading my hubs.

The one called "Memories of Home" is a much more interesting, in-depth story of my younger days.

Its actually pretty crazy haha, I hope they put it back up soon. I was pretty disappointed that it was removed.

Yes, we are different indeed. haha

Cool. I read your back story and it was interesting. As a fellow home-schooled individual, I can relate to the alienation and frustration of not knowing how to fit in. But, at the end of the day, being home-schooled makes us different, which helps with our artistic endeavors.

Doug, it should be back up soon, don't forget to check it out when it is.

It was unpublished for overly promoting a site. I accidentally linked the pictures to their sources.

But hopefully it will return shortly...ugh

      Bad day.

I like the one that looks like a giant flaming eye-ball crashing to earth.

I went to check out your other recently published hub (something about a true story) and it was "unpublished". What up wit dat!?

Yes my abilities don't flow from things I have seen and read, they flow from my head.

I am happy to say that my inspiration for just about everything has always been from within.

I really appreciate the comment Saddle, and I'm glad you liked them! I do agree, some of them seem spiritual in appearance

Your designs are a product of your imagination much like how you write, like your words your shapes are exquisitely shaped and have an almost spiritual/supernatural look to them, something from a dream.

I think tattoos are a fascination, I put a couple on my arms when I was a boy using white thread, black india ink and a sharp needle.

I envy those who have great looking tattoos, if I was a younger man again, I would have a few on chosen parts of my body. Great work Ben, loved the drawings.

Genna - thanks for that, and yes, some tattoos are stunning indeed.

Nellie - I see your point, and I appreciate your intrigue. Yes I think the first one has the appearance of changing. Different shapes seem to pop out out of nowhere. Thanks for checking them out :]

I must confess I am not a fan of tattoos. Permanently scarring the body does not appeal to me, and at my age, I can only say I am very glad I don't have that to contend with along with the natural effects of living long. I wonder if young folks ever consider that the skin on which they have the ink inserted will someday be quite a different texture and the designs may become quite distorted and unattractive? NO? Well, what more can I say? LOL.

I am glad these designs were on paper, not on skin. I am a doodler. If I have a writing instrument in my hand and any kind of paper at my disposal, I will doodle. It might be an official document or manuscript - if I don't catch myself, it will have evidence that "Nellieanna was here" on it. But many of my doodlings might have been interesting designs for other uses, from textiles to tattoos. Some are symmetrical, some are dimensional, some are biological. I can almost doodle mentally. LOL - no, I CAN doodle mentally. Come to think of it, It may be part of the creative process. Think?

Your designs are most intriguing, Ben. I like that some of them have movement - they whirl - like windmills. Interesting.

Thanks for sharing yet another side of you complex talents.

I like “one of my favorites” the best. It has interesting dimensions and design that are unique. I wasn’t a fan of tattoos until my son recently had one done of the Tree of Life on his back…it is stunningly beautiful; he opened up “Mom’s eyes” to the beauty of this art.

I'm with you Ben. I too like art. I hadn't thought of posting some on the hub. Once again, I'm following your lead...

With respect to your work, they all have nice detail and pattern. If I had to pick one I suppose I like the mosaic pattern detail on the last.

      Good job...

      :/

Well, I suppose they aren't exactly beautiful in a typical sense. I like symmetry a lot. I wouldn't exactly call them Gothic, but I can see why some people wouldn't really like the style of them.

The fourth reminds me of a Regency wallpaper design called pomegranate... and I don't think you were going for that, were you?

They are too Gothic for me.

The guy standing in fire? you thought I drew that? haha

If I drew that, I wouldn't be writing, I'd be making bank off of art

I simply created the words that went with that
