A crochet purse for him.

This is a very simple crochet pattern that uses 2 motifs sewn together. The design is mesh so it's very light and interesting. This is perfect for party favors for Halloween theme parties.

Pattern instructions: Motif

The motif is very simple. Make 2.

Row 1. Use Magic Ring, Ch 2. Dc on ring. (Ch 2, 2 DC on ring ) repeat 5 times. CH 2 and SL on starting Ch2. You should have 6 clusters of 2 dc with CH 2 in between. Turn.

Row 2. CH 3. DC on next. ( CH 4, DC on next 2 DC from first row. ) repeat 5 times. CH 4 and SL on starting CH 3 You should have 6 clusters of 2DC with Ch 4 in between. Turn.

Row 3. Ch 3. DC on next. ( Ch 3, DC in CH 4 of previous row, CH 3, DC in next 2 DC ) repeat 5 times. CH 3 and SL on starting CH 3. By now, the DC clusters will form an asterisk . Turn.

Row 4. Ch 3. DC on next. (CH 5, DC in DC of previous row, CH 5, DC in next 2 DC ) repeat 5 times. Ch 5 and SL on starting CH3. Turn.

Row 5: CH3, DC on next. ( CH 3, DC in first CH 5 of previous row, Ch 3, DC in next CH 5 of previous row , DC in next 2 DC ) repeat 5 times. CH 3 and SL on starting CH3. Turn.

Row 6: CH 3. DC on next. ( CH 5, DC on next DC of previous row, CH 5 and DC on next DC of previous row , CH 5, DC on next 2 DC ) Repeat 5 times. CH 5 and SL on starting CH 3. Turn.

Row 7. Ch 3, DC on next. 3DC on next CH 5 of previous row. 4DC of next CH 5 of previous same, 3 DC on next CH 5 of previous row. ( Simply put, DC on all the DC on the asterisk pattern, then DC on the CH5 of round 6 as 3-4-3 DCs. ) SL on starting CH 3.

Row 8. HDC on all DCs.

Note: You are making 2 motifs. So, on the first motif, you already cut the yarn. On the second motif, do not cut yarn. Proceed with joining with cutting yarn.

This design holds it's design when filled with coins. It does not really lay flat.

Pattern Instructions: Joining

With the 2 motifs, wrong side facing each other. Join the 2 sides as follows:

SL in first motif side, CH 2, SL on 2nd motif side.

Do this all through out until only 2 segments of the asterisks remains. It will look like a coin purse now. There will be an opening which is 1/3 of the actual round. We will sew the zipper on this opening later.

Once the motifs are joined, we will work on the opening. Turn work, SC on all the HDC on Motif 1 side , continuing to motif 2 side.

Before finishing this round by SL on the starting stitch, CH 30. SL to first ch.

Add the zipper by sewing it on the sides of the opening :)

Weave in ends!

You now have a unique mesh coin purse .
