Steampunk Art and Drawing

Updated on October 16, 2013

Steampunk Art is what ever you want it to be.

Steam punk art comes in all shapes, sizes and dimensions. Some steampunk art is functional while other is "just for looks"

The varieties of steampunk art is limited only by your imagination. Just start drawing and see where it takes you.

Your drawings can evolve into 3 dimensional pieces or sculptures that you can wear or use. Some take practical items such as computers, glasses, clothing and hats and turn them into steampunk art. Some is very involved while other pieces are as simple as adding a few bobbles, gears and gems to create a unique Steampunk piece of art.

In my opinion every piece of Steampunk is Art. It all takes talent and imagination. Steampunk is the combination of Victorian Era with Industrial items. My favorites are the practical items that are usable in the real world. Although I do appreciate a beautiful piece of Steampunk Jewelry.

What is Steampunk?

Steampunk is a mix of Industrial and Victorian era's. Mixing lace with gas masks and gears with top hats.

To get a taste of Steampunk you can simply google it and see what amazing things people are creating to accent their Steampunk Style. After all that is what it is, a style.

There are conventions and get togethers where everyone is dressed for the occasion, similar to Renaissance fairs or Treky conventions. Everyone showing off their own creations and styles to one another all the while trying to out do each other.

Creative people can create their own Steampunk apparatuses while less crafty folks can purchase items from others who enjoy making them. I have found items on eBay, etsy and steampunk sites.

I hope this article inspires you to find your own unique Steampunk Style and run with it.
