    Is the art of wood burning/pyrography lost do you know someone who still practices this art form?

    Any ideas on how the art of wood burning got started and have you seen any incredible creations you'd like to share?

    I don't believe the art of wood burning is lost. I have no idea how it got started, but once I saw a beautiful piece, and that got me started.

    My earliest works of art consisted of wood burning. I would draw around wooden picture frames then burned my art around the frame. I did many other items also. I still love to do it but can't find the time like I used to.

    I don't think it's a lost art form at all. It's a beautiful skill but I think it's not too well known due to lack of strong promotion efforts to bring awareness to the public.

    They actually started selling kids/beginner kits for wood burning at michael's craft store, so hopefully we'll have some new artists of this type in the years to come
