I live in a little town in the Pacific NW of the USA. It is the oldest incorporated town in our state. The first Sunday of October is always designated the day to celebrate Apple Squeeze. New and antique apple presses are brought out of storage and set up in the grassy area next to Town Hall. Bags of apples are available for purchase so that you can press your own apple cider to take home (in a jug). The downtown (all 2 blocks) is closed to traffic. Vendor booths line the street, selling anything and everything related to apples. There is entertainment throughout the day--bands, singers, jugglers, etc. Members of the historical society donate home baked pies and sell apple pie by the slice in Town Hall. Hmmm, maybe I should write a hub about this.
