Palette Clipart

A palette is a board with a hole for the thumb which holds different colors of paint for artists to use. An artist can use a single color to paint or use the board to mix different colors together to form a new color.

Palettes can be traced back to the 1600s. I have used one before, but it's been a very long time. Have you ever tried one?

I've always loved the look of mandalas. They are so beautiful and I enjoy how colors are used in them. They can also be very relaxing to color. Some people use them for meditation.

Art at the Louvre

The Louvre Museum
The Louvre Museum

Formerly a palace, the Louvre opened it's doors to the public in 1793. Seeing numerous changes over the years, the Louvre is home to some of the most famous pieces of art in the world.

Besides the Venus de Milo, which was shown earlier, some of the museum's most famous pieces include the Mona Lisa, The Raft of Medusa, the Portrait of Louis XIV and Empress Josephine. Having visited myself, I can tell you that this place is truly amazing.

Michelangelo and the Sistine Chapel

Hands of God and Adam
Hands of God and Adam

Michelangelo's best known work is the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel. Although known for being a sculptor, Michelangelo spent a little over four years painting the ceiling.

Contrary to popular belief, he didn't paint the ceiling while on his back. He actually stood to paint it. The image you see here is from a portion of the ceiling and is entitled Hands of God and Adam.

I'm not too much into modern art. As for coloring, I like pictures with many details. My mother always drew us large pictures for us to color, it would take me hours to finish it!

I guess the first question in the quiz was really relevant to the US, But I had a guess. I actually managed 2 out of 5, I thought I would have got more being an artist, but hey I'm cool.I rarely draw before using colour, my artwork is usually done directly with colour.

@anonymous: The cubism is quite a bold piece. Glad you enjoyed your visit. I always appreciate your comments.

I guess I should have brushed up because I only got one quiz question right...I hadn't even thought about what the dogs playing poker advertised, almost went with cigars, so maybe half credit for that one. I always love a visit to your coloring creations....because you are so creative in putting them together. My favorite today is your cubism, now that's an art lesson in itself! :)

I can't draw that well but I do like looking at manga at times. I find the characters very expressive.
