Masquerading Menagerie by Diana Vick

Updated on February 14, 2013

My fantasy artwork

Here you'll explore a whimsical world populated by fantastical animals brought to life by Diana Vick's art work. Pirate foxes, steampunk airship pirates and much more! There are links to shops where you'll find gift items for everyone!

Welcome to my whimsical world!

I've been drawing since I could hold a crayon. I've done lots of different things in the art world including card art for Magic The Gathering and Legend of the Five Rings. Currently I'm trying my hand at creating cards, stickers and t-shirts featuring animals dressed for a fantasy masquerade ball. A fox dons a kimono and becomes a graceful geisha. Another fox poses as the ever stylish Marie Antoinette in silks and satins. A sultry cat oozes attitude in a leather bikini. All the colorful, decorative inhabitants dance in a fantasy world, brought to life by my art. We welcome you.

Why a menagerie?

My interest in funny animals began with Disney’s Robin Hood. The two main fox characters were so colorful and exciting. It’s one of my favorite movies to this very day. I had the very good fortune of getting my picture taken with Robin Hood at Walt Disney World several years ago. Disney has had a wealth of wonderful animal characters throughout the years. The Beast (Beauty and the Beast) is such a powerful character with an incredible range of emotion. Another strong figure is Captain Amelia (Treasure Planet). I’ve always loved Warner Brother’s Looney Tunes characters as well. My favorite being Pepe le Pew; he is such an ill fated romantic. My love of all these characters has definitely molded my art style in what I hope is a positive direction.

And as for masquerade...

well my love of costumes is obvious.I've been costuming at science fiction/fantasy conventions for year. Here's one of my latest creations, a cat girl created from an idea from a Dr Who episode.

Buy the Book!

I finally have a collection of my work in a full color volume available through Blurb. It's a gorgeous 40 page full color book with not only my lovely foxes and cats, but also some of my illustration work as well. You can purchase it through the link below.
