Updated on August 23, 2012

Embroidery machine

Embroidery machines are great for adding a decorative touch to your clothing or household linens, or personalize clothing and items for some great gifts that will cost you very little to make, but look like you spent a fortune. Here is a look at some of the best embroidery machines.

Some of the great things you can do with an embroidery machine

*Add a design and personalize some pajamas for kids

*T-shirts are really cheap when purchased blank. Add a design and personalize for kids. Also makes an inexpensive gift that looks like you spent a lot.

*Monogram towels, handkerchiefs, or shirts

*Add some flowers to your hand towels for an inexpensive hand towel.

*Add any insect to a bucket hat and personalize. This makes a great hat for the beach or some fun in the sun.

*Purchase a package of blank burp cloths and add a baby design and personalize. This makes a great baby shower gift, or welcome baby gift.

Christmas night gowns

The girls are all wearing handmade Christmas nightgowns that have a Christmas design and their name on the yoke. They proudly wore them for two years, before I had to make new nightgowns, because they outgrew them.

Personalized Santa hats

You can get Santa hats for one dollar at the dollar store. It takes only a few minutes to personalize a Santa hat and it makes for a really festive party when everybody is wearing a Santa hat with their name on it.

Tips for getting professional results with your personal embroidery machine

T-shirt fabric is very flimsy and it is hard to embroider on. My embroidery machine chewed up many T-shirts, before I found an easy way that works every time. When you put your T-shirt into your embroidery hoop, put a piece of stabilizer under the T-shirt, and put another piece of stabilizer on top of the T-shirt. This will give you the added stability to get your design on your T-shirt, without your machine pulling the fabric and chewing up the T-shirt. Since I started using this method, I have never ruined a T-shirt again.
