How to Make a Blessings Jar

Updated on August 20, 2014

A Simple Way to Bring Joy Everyday

Are you looking for a list of scriptures to include in a Blessing Jar? You'll find that list here, in addition to ideas for tags and embellishments. I am using the term Blessing Jar to describe a jar that is filled with encouraging scriptures. These scriptures are on folded slips of paper and can be pulled out one at a time whenever a bit of encouragement is needed.

I think you will find Blessing Jars make wonderful gifts, and that you will have a wonderful time making them. I'm going to make several for Christmas and I love the fact that they can be enjoyed throughout the year.

Top It Off

Terrific toppers make Blessing Jars all the more special. A simple circle of fabric is really all you need. Place the upside down jar onto the fabric and trace the circle two to three inches larger all around to allow for overlapping the neck of the jar and a bit hanging beneath the band for decoration. For a puffy top, put a small handful of cotton batting (or cotton balls) on top of the metal lid and under the fabric round. Add any ribbon or fiber for the finishing touch.

Have you ever made a blessing jar?

I've never made one, but it seems like a cool gift idea. Probably make one for my parents next Christmas. I like giving and getting personal gifts instead of store bought stuff.
