How To Make Your Pictures Blurry with Gimp
We always want our photos to look the best.
But sometimes we want them to be blurry, foggy and fuzzy. If you want to make an avatar that doesn't reveal too much or if you want to put your children's photos on internet and you want them to stay hidden, you can use blurry pictures.
You can make your photos blurry with Gimp. It is free and it is fun.
Gimp is raster graphics editor (GNU Image Manipulation Program), and you can download it for free.
So let's make our photos a little bit unrecognizable.
All images by Pippi Dust.
This is original photo of an apple. We'll use a few filters to make it blurry.
First I used Blur. We go to Filters - Blur - Blur. And this is the result - blurry apple.
With this one I also used Blur, but this time Gaussian Blur. We do that with Filters - Blur - Gaussian Blur and we can adjust how blurry our photo will turn out.
Next one is pixelize. Go to Filters - Blur - Pixelize.
And then there is mosaic. We can do it with Filters - Distorts - Mosaic.
We can make different mosaics, just try few options and see which one you like. I made three mosaics.
Next one is Newsprint, with dots. We can make it with Filters - Distorts - Newsprint.
And here is another interesting option how to make our photo blurry. We can make it with Filters - Light and Shadow - Glass Tile.
With this option our photo looks like it is made of many little points. Make it with Filters - Noise - Spread.
Here it looks like our photo is printed on canvas. Make it with Filters - Artistic - Apply Canvas.
With this option our photo looks like it is drawn with oil paint. Make it with Filters - Artistic - Oilify.
So, we have quite a lot of options how to make our photo blurry. I hope you find them interesting and useful. And of course, have fun with making them.
