Crafting with Game Boards and Pieces

Board games often have beautiful graphics that are screaming to be made into crafts. Vintage game boards are especially nice!

And don't forget the game pieces, instructions, and cards that come with board games. A simple board game craft is to glue a magnet to the back of game pieces like checkers or Monopoly pieces like the shoe or thimble.

I have never thought of crafting with board games, what a wonderfully clever idea to hold those smiles from games loved in days gone by that are just in a shelf somewhere. I had forgotten about Fun on the Farm, I sued to play it when I visited some cousins. It worked out good that we had different games to play at each other's house. Now that I think of it, that may have been planned by our parents because we were kept busy. Fun idea once again and very creative! :)

I've used vintage bingo cards for some crafting and I've made Scrabble tiles into magnets. I have a few game things I've collected and planned on making things with, but haven't gotten to it yet.

I made a few crafts with puzzle pieces. I always wanted to locate some used Scrabble tiles, but they're a hot item these days.

I like seeing vintage board games hanging on the wall like artwork. Old checkerboards look great for this. I hope you are going to make a companion page about using game pieces in crafts (scrabble pieces, dominoes, etc.)
