A Candy Canes Doily To Crochet!

It's been my tradition for many years to design a special doily or snowflake for Christmas that requires a bit of extra effort on my part. I adore candy canes, so I chose them to be featured in my 2013 Annual Christmas Doily pattern!

It's crocheted in Lizbeth crochet cotton size 20, in White and Angel Love (red/white variegate). In size 20, my finished doily measured about 8" in diameter. If you want a larger doily, just crochet it in size 10 with a size 7 hook. Or for a larger centerpiece, you could do it in size 3 thread with a size 2 crochet hook. In fact, I made one in the new size 3 Aunt Lydia's Bakers Cotton in the red/white variegate. Very cool!

What will the Christmas 2014 design be? Stay tuned!

I've rated this project Intermediate ability because of extensive work in Treble crochet.

Happy holiday crocheting to you!

A Word About Yarn & Thread Selection...

You may use different yarns such as scrap yarns or threads with good results! Just make sure to keep them similar in weight and thickness so as not to throw off the pattern.

I just picked this up for myself and don't know how I ever lived without it! You can tie on a cord in the holder to wear around your neck or your wrist. The thread feeds so smoothly and never gets dirty! I LOVE this product!!

A Note From Your Designer...

Hi, I'm SheilaSchnauzies, also published as SheilaSparkles, and my life's passion is designing in Crochet! I also love to share gifts with friends, and this pattern is my gift to you! I give away about 95% of my pattern designs free. The other 5% are sold on my pattern store at Craftsy.com to benefit the vet expenses of my Miniature Schnauzer Rescue, Sheila's Schnauzies.

Just one little favor, please... I would appreciate it if you do not post this pattern anywhere on the Internet or in the 'real world.' Instead, you are most welcome to provide a link to this webpage.

I use a system I call the "Official Schnauzer Difficulty Rating" just for fun, to rate the difficulty of my patterns. If it's a 3/5 or more, I'll explain why I consider it more difficult. A few of my designs use techniques that are a bit unconventional! If it's one of those patterns, I'll warn you ahead of time. I do a lot of custom-fit patterns, for example. They are made to fit YOU, not a measurement from a chart. They're surprisingly easy to do and actually end up fitting. That's a good thing, yes?

So glad you found my patterns! I hope you really enjoy making whatever it is you're making! Crochet hugs, -Sheila

I've used every manner of yarn tote out there, and this is by far the best I've tried! I own this one in a Raspberry color. It weighs virtually nothing. It has two convenient yarn pull-throughs on top, and there's a separate detachable zipper tote you can stash your hooks, cash, ID, etc. in. Perfect for a day of crocheting on the go! Right now mine is filled with 10 large balls of crochet thread! It holds 6-8 skeins of yarn easily as well. I just can't say enough about it! I know one thing, I'm planning to buy it in all the other colors!
