Many people today are short on cash, but love art. For the most part, original art is expensive, and high priced. Inexpensive, well made original art is difficult to find. Here is a simple solution for anyone who can cut paper. Go to your local Target, Kmart, etc., and buy some contact paper. Pick a color or pattern that goes with the design you would like to create and with the décor of your home. Lay it out on your floor and draw anything you like. Cut it out, peel off the backing and place it on the wall. If you make a mistake just peel it off and do it again.

You don’t have to be an artist. You can print pictures from the internet or any object you find. If you download a picture, cut it out, place it on the back of the contact paper and trace it. Now cut out the tracing and you have your picture. Be creative and let your mind flow. If you have children or friends you can make it a group project.

To the right of my article is a tree I made for a corner in my kitchen. I was able to give it depth simply by using the walls and ceiling to paste my contact paper. I printed the bird, cut it out and pasted it to my wall. You don’t have to be an artist, I am certainly not. But artist or not, you will have great results because this is really easy to do. Have fun!
