Crazy Arts: The Secret Life of Heroes

Updated on December 15, 2013

Heroes are only Human

What do heroes do when they're not saving the world?

While surfing around the internet, I came to stumble upon these unique works of art exposing heroes on their private everyday lives. Heroes can't stay heroes all day long. Even they still have personal things to attend to. They deserve a break and a booze once in a while too. Having super human powers doesn't excuse them from having to do ordinary stuff including eating and attending to personal hygiene.

Have a sneak peek and explore the secret lives our heroes lead when they're off duty.

About the Artist

Grégoire Guillemin: Eclectic Graphical Gamer

Grégoire Guillemin, a French artist, is the one responsible for making "The Secret Lives of Heroes". His work had caused positive impact from comicbook and cartoon fans all over the net. He found the idea of depicting characters from different kinds of genre as normal people doing normal activities.

He has also done a lot of amazing series of digital art including "Smooth Minimalism" and "Paper Heroes." As an artist, he has a minimalist approach yet his work stands out a lot. He has a great talent on leaving abstract pictures to speak out on its own. Its simplicity becomes its advantage as his designs gained popularity. His work range from illustrating pop icons and comic book heroes to more personal works such as comic shorts and posters of original characters.

Heroes on Everyday Diet

There is no hiding that heroes also need to sit down and enjoy a meal once in a while. They don't roam around fighting crime twenty four hours a day, right?

Just like a normal person, they need to restock and replenish their energy. What better way of doing so than a nice hearty meal. Even heroes enjoy feasting on high-fat foods which may not be fit for their good physique. What foods do you imagine heroes eat?

It is one thing that catches many viewer's attention because you wouldn't expect to see those certain characters eat such foods. It also showcases heroes eating in weird and unhygienic ways.

Heroes on Chilling Out

The reason why you don't see heroes drinking beer, puffing smoke, or getting wasted is because they just don't (with a few exceptions such as Wolverine.) Who would consider them heroes in the first place when they project bad image to the people that love and idolizes them.

As a good example, they should not be doing any of these things at least when they're in public. Their private lives could be a little different. When do heroes get the time to chill and relax doing anything they would like to have some fun? Let's cut them some slack.

Heroes on Modern Gadgets

Most of our heroes have aged quite a lot since their creation. They even grew apart from their old classic costumes and appearances. Some of these characters were born in the early 70's to 80's. Some are even around even before most of us are born.Heroes mingling with today's modern gadgets and devices are kind of cool if you compare them with their old counterparts.

Heroes on Daily Hygeine

Can Spiderman go out to save the day without first brushing his teeth? Yes, but unlikely. Who would want to swing around buildings wearing a mask with a case of bad breath?

What if that damsel in distress that certain hero saved decided to give her man in shining armor a kiss? Proper hygiene plays an important role in heroism if you think about it. It draws the line between an ordinary brawler and a respectable hero.

Heroes on Embarassing Snapshots

Beyond the mask and all that prestige lies a human after all. Just like normal people, heroes do stuff not very likable when done in public. They do embarrassing rituals too that is better not known by the people they save everyday.

When it comes down to it, they also have to go to the bathroom when nature calls for it. They have to scratch in awkward places around they're body like there's no tomorrow. It doesn't make them less heroic but it's still not a pretty sight.

I found your lens very entertaining. I had lots of fun here. Your lens is also very sleek and well done. I appreciated your comment on how our heros are changing. My biggest childhood hero was Tonto from Lone Ranger. He is sure wearing a much different costume in the New Lone Ranger movie coming out. But I love my hero's new costume because Johnny Depp is wearing it. He patterned it after a real Indian's personal regalia.
