Free Dragon Colouring Pictures for Adults

Updated on October 6, 2014

Original Dragon and Sea Serpent Colouring Pages

Are you looking for new dragon line arts and colouring pages to download for your kids (or yourself?) Then look no further! Here you will find several different dragons and sea serpents to download and print out for free. And as I have drawn them all, there are no nasty copyright issues to worry about.

I used to love colouring in dragons, and now I've moved on to drawing my own, and I was always looking for different kinds of dragon. I had very definite ideas about what features a 'proper' dragon could have when I was a kid - but these days I try and draw a bit more variety! If you don't find what you want, or you have a child who is particularly insatiable when it comes to colouring pages, then check out the selection of dragon themed colouring books as well.

I have drawn all the dragons on this page, and will be adding more over time, so any suggestions and feedback are welcome - and check back occasionally for new pictures!

Copyright: As the original artist of all these works I am happy to make them available for people to colour in, but I ask that you do not distribute the uncoloured versions, hotlink them or sell them as that makes it difficult or pointless for me to keep them here (You can show off the coloured versions though! In fact, I'd love to see them.)

You can see more dragon colouring pages and larger sizes for many of these pictures at my site here:

What Do I Paint With?

My favourite painting program for drawing dragons!

While I do sketch a lot of my dragons with plain old pencil, I also sketch and paint them in ArtRage 2.5 and ArtRage 3, using a graphics tablet. (I like and paint in both versions, but ArtRage 3 - ArtRage Studio or Studio Pro - has a neat inking tool that lets me draw neat lines once I've sketched out my drawing, letting me clean up my art for other people to colour in).

Finished and Coloured In Dragons

Examples of the dragon colouring pages that people have coloured in

The Roaring Dragon [download here] was coloured in fantastically, as you can see on the right, by fellow artist stylishimo.

You can see the larger version on Flickr.

They used Pantone Prismacolor markers (see below).

Dragon Stained Glass Colouring Books - I loved these when I was younger!

These Stained Glass colouring books are a fun twist on the 'normal' picture book. The pages are made of semi-transparent paper, a bit like grease paper, which can be coloured with felt tip pens and then held up to the light.

They're sturdy enough for kids, small and cheap, full of fun, bold, drawings and are a nice introduction to the concept of 'ligh can come through pictures!'.

I actually had this one. It was fun, though very small; I remember learning that there was more than one way to draw a dragon from it.

You have an amazing talent with art. These drawings are beautiful without implying effort. I prefer moderate dragons. Making them too scary may dismay children, who have to ask their parents to buy the books.

I love your dragon artwork and while I don't really color, at least one or two of those really gave me a yearning to start actually. I am an artist myself, so I really appreciate cool fantasy ones. I was especially impressed with The Waterlily Secret image. Thanks for sharing your work.

I want that Wacom Tablet to draw on and love the choices of crayons and stuff to color your Dragon coloring pages, especially the scaly dragon with the fish in his mouth :)

I do like your dragon colouring pages! Colouring pictures is fun (not just for kids!) but I'd really love to be able to paint dragons as beautifully as you do. :)
