Let's Crochet A Custom Size Faux Knit Crazy Purse! Free Crochet Pattern
It Looks A Bit Like Knitting But It's Crocheted!
I named this my "Crazy Purse" because with its deliberately not-exactly square rounds and bright colors, it looks a little crazy! Crazy fun. This purse was crocheted out of 100% cotton worsted weight yarn in either Peaches n' Creme or Sugar n' Cream, I honestly can't remember which!
A few years back, I discovered that if I worked my single crochets with a slightly different method, while crocheting in the round, it looks a lot like knitting! Now, not being a knitter, that appealed to me as something new and different!
I call this stitch "Prong Single Crochet" and I've made many items using it, from doilies to items such as this colorful summer purse in 100% Cotton. I use it to carry in my mail from the mailbox, and just keep it hanging conveniently on a doorknob. I've had this purse for several years now and this is a current photo of how great it has held up to wear! When you crochet something in 100% Cotton, it's machine washable and dryable. Gotta love that!
Of course you can crochet this up in any yarn of your dreams. It would be wonderful in a sequined yarn such as Hobby Lobby's "Enchantment" or a really soft and yummy yarn like anything in JoAnn's Sensations line.
Have a ball, it's easy enough for a confident beginner but fun enough for anyone to crochet. So grab that hook, pick out your yarn and let's get started!

A Word About Yarn & Thread Selection...
You may use different yarns such as scrap yarns or threads with good results! Just make sure to keep them similar in weight and thickness so as not to throw off the pattern.
You can crochet this purse in any size you like, from mini to a huge tote bag! Just refer to the Custom-Fit instructions.
How To Do My "Prong Single Crochet"
Here's a closeup of the Prong Single Crochet from another pattern. To work it, you insert the hook into the little hole between the "v" of the single crochet stitch, rather than under the top two loops as usual.

A Note From Your Designer...
Hi, I'm SheilaSchnauzies, also published as SheilaSparkles, and my life's passion is designing in Crochet! I also love to share gifts with friends, and this pattern is my gift to you! I give away about 95% of my pattern designs free. The other 5% are sold on my pattern store at Craftsy.com to benefit the vet expenses of my Miniature Schnauzer Rescue, Sheila's Schnauzies.
Just one little favor, please... I would appreciate it if you do not post this pattern anywhere on the Internet or in the 'real world.' Instead, you are most welcome to provide a link to this webpage.
I use a system I call the "Official Schnauzer Difficulty Rating" just for fun, to rate the difficulty of my patterns. If it's a 3/5 or more, I'll explain why I consider it more difficult. A few of my designs use techniques that are a bit unconventional! If it's one of those patterns, I'll warn you ahead of time. I do a lot of custom-fit patterns, for example. They are made to fit YOU, not a measurement from a chart. They're surprisingly easy to do and actually end up fitting. That's a good thing, yes?
So glad you found my patterns! I hope you really enjoy making whatever it is you're making! Crochet hugs, -Sheila
