Loads of Free Crochet Scarf Patterns

Updated on May 19, 2019

Making Crocheted Scarves

Crocheting scarves is one of the easiest and fastest gifts you can create for any special occasion. These free patterns are sure to spice up your own wardrobe for the holidays or to give as gifts to him or her.

I've enjoyed crocheting since I was a young girl and learned from my mom and grandmother. When the weather starts keeping me indoors more and more, I must have a crocheting or other crafting project at hand when I'm not working.

Hopefully you will find several projects in this article that you can make very quickly for everyone on your gift giving list. Be sure to scroll down the article as there are several links to lovely patterns throughout.

*** I now have several Link Lists for free patterns and even some for Spring and Summer listed below! ***

Another lovely free project is this Faux Woven Scarf pattern!

I love for my stitches to be placed fairly close together when I am crocheting something for warmth. I think this project design will definitely keep that in mind.

In a message from Karin, she advised me that she designed and has taught this particular project in crocheting workshops to total beginners that have never crocheted before.

So although it may look more advanced, it's totally not!

This pattern is supposed to be quick and easy so I'm thinking about Christmas and Birthday gifts.

I've done the broomstick pattern in the past and it was fun so I think I'm going to keep this pattern handy.

I can just see this lacy looking design around a few special necks this winter. :)

I'm a crochet newbie, and I find it's very hard for me. I think that knitting might be easier, because I keep trying to use both my hands. I'm not giving up yet, though. I finished one whole row of a blanket! (Just please don't ask me how long it took or how much help I had to have to get there!) ;-)

@Rock Artist: Glad you like all the free crochet scarf patterns Nancy! Sorry but don't have a pattern for the purple intro scarf. I thought it was a very nice image and borrowed it from Flikr Creative Commons for that purpose. :) I feel like it may be a Tunisian Crochet pattern if I were to guess from just looking. There is a Tunisian Crochet pattern farther down in the links list in this article but not for an infinity scarf. If you find a free pattern that looks like the purple one, let me know and I'll add it to the list!

I haven't done crochet since I was a young girl at school. However, back then they taught us how to make placemats, dinner table clothes and things that you hung on the back of the chair. Nothing as cool as these scarves. I especially liked the Lacy Crochet Infinity Scarf! It looks so pretty and could be an easy accessory and help keep you warm.
