Free Printable Castle Coloring Pages for Kids and Adults

Updated on July 21, 2014

Castle Coloring Sheets

Enjoy these free castle coloring pictures. There are some easier ones for kids and more complex ones for adults.

There is something so beautiful about castles. If you want to add a whimsical feel to them, you can always add some glitter to the pages after coloring them.

To make them extra fancy, you could also add some rhinestones or sequins.

I have always loved castles and have been lucky enough to visit some beautiful ones in Europe. I really enjoyed creating this lens and I hope you have sun with it.

Castle Coloring Pages

Ever wonder why the walls of a castle are so high? It's to make it difficult for enemies to get in. Keep enemies out is also a reaon that castles have moats filled with water around them.

The first castles were built in the 9th century, They were built as a line of defense and protection. Many of the earlier castles were built out of wood. Later on, stone replaced the wood. It is believed that the first ones were constructed in England.

Think it might have been fun to live in a castle back then? Keep in mind that there was no electricity, which means no central heating and only some of the rooms had fireplaces, so it could get to be very cold inside. Also keep in mind that back then, there were no toilets as know them.

Here is a simple one for the kids.

Castle Color Pages

Wouldn't this be exciting to see? This would be good for older kids, teenagers and adults. There's a lot more detail. I would recommend using coloring pencils for this one.

Many castles had secret passageways. These could be used as a means of escape if the enemy made it into the castle. These passageways would lead to an area outside of the castle.

This is one of my favorites. I love all of the attention to detail. This is not recommended for young kids as they may get frustrated as it would be difficult to stay within the lines.

Neuschwanstein Castle Picture

This is my favorite castle. It is located up in the beautiful Bavarian Alps of Germany. Not only is it beautiful on the outside, there are so many pretty items to see on the inside.

I'm so glad I've been lucky enough to visit here. This was the inspiration for Walt Disney in his making of Sleeping Beauty's Castle in Disneyland. Isn't it gorgeous?

We visited some castles, including the Palace of Versailles and the Tower of London, on a trip to Europe one time. They are fascinating. I love these coloring pages!

Many people in our country get married in castles. This is one of the better things of living in Europe. We have a lot of castles and because there is a really a lot of work and expenses with them, owners are always on the hunt for every opportunity to earn some money. Wedding ceremonies are near the top of the list:)

My daughter loves castles in every form, doesn't matter if in real life or on coloring pages or as sand castle at the beach. In summer we spend a lot of time at the beach and we enjoy building nice sand castles together.
