Gift Wrapping Trends
Wrap up those gifts with the newest trend!
Need a unique or trendy way to wrap those presents and gifts? It seems that the newest gift wrapping technique is to use bakers twine or cording with a solid colored paper. The "grocery sack" brown paper is probably trending the most on the pages I am visiting. For those of you who are in to recycling, using a real grocery sack to wrap a gift would be ideal, correct?
On this page you will find trendy and creative ideas for wrapping, decorating and tagging your gifts.
The gift wrapping idea you see to the left would be perfect for Christmas or Valentine's Day, don't you think? The little crochet "doo-dad" on the package is a nice addition. It is probably handmade. Go look in your grandmother's sewing drawer for leftovers or unfinished crochet projects to adorn the gifts you give this year. Use your imagination.

Probably THE "Most Popular" Trend in Gift Wrap - Use Baker's Twine!
I love the simplicity of this twine for wrapping a gift of any kind. It is also great to have on hand to attach a gift tag, too. I have seen this twine on more and more presents, lately. Since I cannot tie a decent bow with wide ribbon, twine is a good choice for me because the bows always look good.
You can always knit or crochet with this twine if the trend goes away before you use it up!
Need Green Baker's Cord? - Creative twine to wrap it up!
If you wrap a lot of gifts, buy a bigger spool to last a long time. This cord is so classic, you might want to use it for everything you tie up!
The green yarn can be combined with red to make a holiday look, or you can just use the green and white for a springtime package.
Classic and oh so trendy!
Make Paper Chain Cutouts
Brown Paper Packages--creative gift wrap tied up with string!
The paper chain of trees you see here are made the same way one cuts out paper dolls. Fold you paper accordion style, free hand or use a template and cut out the pattern to make a chain. Notice the brown paper gift wrap.

Natural Brown Kraft Paper to creatively wrap those presents: - Gift Wrap Supplies for sale
Brown paper never goes out of style. Just the neutral nature of this paper allows one to decorate it in any way imaginable. Brown natural kraft paper is also useful for many occasions.
NOTE: I have found that sometimes tape does not stick too well so make sure you rub it on very well and use a ribbon or twine to finish off the package. I also like to sharply crease the edges of the package.
Decorate the Brown Craft Paper to wrap things up!
Crafty ways to decorate your trendy packages:
My daughter used stamps on brown paper wrapped gifts instead of gift tags. She simply stamped the name of the recipient on the present. Loved it.
I have a link to a page immediately below that will show you how to make your own personalized stamps out of wine corks.

Recycling is a Trend, too!
Repurpose cards for unique gift tags:
This year I finally ran out of the gift tags that I purchased at Costco! You know what I am talking about here, don't you? It took me four Christmases to use up one roll of wrapping paper. We do not give a lot of presents (a conscious decision, by the way) so it takes years to use up our stash of gift wrap.
Well, getting back to gift tags---I still needed some so "what to do"? I remembered the old Holiday Cards that I had saved. I fully intended to reuse the covers to make personalized cards, but I never got around to it. I sought them out in my file cabinet and found several lovely ones that could be made into tags. All you need to accomplish this is one pair of scissors or a paper cutter. Another good tool to have on hand is a hole punch.
First, you find a card. Make sure there is no message printed on the back of the design you want to cut out. Cut out a tag in any shape you desire and write your "To:" and "From:" on the blank space.
My picture to the right shows a stocking image that I cut from a greeting card.

A Paper Cutter can cut more than gift tags! - A Fiskars Rotary Paper Cutter is what I own.
Several years ago I purchased a Fiskars rotary paper cutter and have used it for so many projects. This year I made gift tags from old greeting cards and my paper cutter made the job much easier. I have trouble cutting a straight line using scissors and a good paper cutter cuts down the guesswork and the strain on my hands.
Gift Tag Innovation: - use a photo of the person who is getting the gift!
My daughter sent me this picture of three bags under her tree. The images on the bags are the adorable faces of my grandchildren. Hmmm. Who might those gifts be for?
