Make These Hair Ornaments For Great Gifts!
Half The Fun Of Having Hair Is Wearing Cool Things In It!
There are way too many hair ornaments -bows, barrettes, clips, scrunchies, you name it -in my collection! They take up a lot of space to store, but I don't care! They are worth it! Besides, I'm working on a solution for that and it will be on a lens here soon!
Hair ornaments are so much fun to make, and very inexpensive. There are links to a few of my other hair creations on the right column, be sure to check those out.
Here, I'm focusing on very simple hair ornaments that virtually anyone can make, with very basic supplies. So let's get started creating some hair bliss!
What You'll Want To Have On Hand...
- Alligator clips, silver or gold
-Copper wire, 20 gauge, in desired color (local craft store jewelry department)
-Round Nose jewelry pliers
-Hot glue gun and glue sticks
-An assortment of beads - crystals, gemstones, Czech glass, dichroic glass, whatever you like

How To Make It
To make the silver bow clips, I purchased Simplicity ready-made bows on a card at JoAnn's. I attached the bow to the clip with copper wire wrapped around the clip and then coiled on top as decoration. Very simple, took just a few minutes. See the YouTube tutorial below on how to coil wire.

Would you like to make your own hair ornaments?
Pick up some pretty ribbon, make it into bows, and attach them to an alligator clip!

Purchased appliques can be fun to use as a basis for hair ornaments. You can hot glue or wire them to the clip, then add accents of ribbon, beads, or other decorations.
My Freestyle Gemstone Clips
I make a lot of jewelry with real gemstones and Swarovski crystals. I think it's fun to randomly string them onto copper wire and bend them into interesting shapes, then wire the whole shebang to a hair clip. There are no rules, just your imagination!
