Bat Welcome Sign Craft
When it comes to decorating for Halloween, this Halloween Bat Welcome plaque is an attractive addition to your wall or door. Your Halloween visitors will enjoy this holiday craft that you have created.
It's easy to make, in other words it's a Halloween craft that kids can make.This would be a great classroom project also, because all the supplies needed are inexpensive and easy to find.
Most schools have the transparency film on hand, but you can also purchase it at craft stores or online.The paint sticks can be purchased if you are making a number of the plaques, or picked up at your friendly paint store if you only need a few of them.
Bat Welcome Plaque Supplies Needed:
for one Halloween Bat Welcome plaque
3 paint sticks
3 popsicle sticks
Craft paint: orange, black, white
One 1 " Styrofoam ball, cut in half
One 2" Styrofoam ball, cut in half
One 2 " Styrofoam ball, cut in half (use only one half)
Google eyes, two 1"; four 3/8"; four 7/16"
Bat wings (Pattern)
Hot or warm glue
Making the Bat Wings
1.Print out bat wings pattern. Lay transparency film over the pattern and using a Sharpie trace the wings. Cut out the wings. Run a bead of white glue around the wings and sprinkle with purple glitter. Let dry.
Making the Wood Plaque
2. Lay the three paint sticks together and hot glue the popsicle sticks across them to hold them together and forming a plaque. Paint the plaque with orange paint, let dry and apply a second coat of orange paint. Let dry.
3.Paint the half Styrofoam balls with black paint and let dry.
4.When the plaque is dry, using black paint and a #3 round paint brush, paint the Welcome on the plaque. Add half circles on the “c” and “o.” Add dots of white inside the black half circles to make eyes.
Assembling the Bats
5.When the Styrofoam balls and the wings are dry, glue the wings to the back of the Styrofoam balls. Glue on the Google eyes.

Attaching Fish String
6.Use a variety of lengths of fishing line to hang the bats to the plaque. Make a loop around a tack, place a dot of hot or warm glue to the back of a bat, and place the tack over the glue. Repeat with all the bats.
7.Make a loop around a tack on the opposite end of the fishing line, add a dot of glue to the back side of the plaque and push the tack down over the glue. Repeat for all bats.
Wire and Raffia Bow
8.Curl the ends of the wire around a pencil. Shape a hanger with the curled ends at the top ends of the plaque. Glue the wire to the ends of the plaque and add the 1” google eyes over the wire.
9.Take a hank of raffia, make a large bow and glue the raffia bow to the top of the wire.
