I love arts and crafts. I used to volunteer teach an elementary art class and love sharing tutorials for fun crafts to make with kids.

Butterfly crafts are suitable for any time of year, but we seem to associate it more with spring and Easter. That's probably because we consider butterflies the symbol of new life.

I've searched the web to find, what I consider, the nicest and most outstanding butterfly crafts for kids and for adults. In this article I will show you pictures of these outstanding butterfly crafts and give you the website addresses to the sites that will tell you how to make the butterflies.

To make the cute little baby butterflies shown above, go to Sew,Mama,Sew!

1. Vintage Butterflies

You'll find these butterflies so super easy to make when you follow the instructions at sweet paul. Imagine all the ways you'll be able to use these butterflies. Consider gluing to a wire or skewer to make plant pokes or adding them to canvas art.

2. Butterfly Shadow Box

Not only do you get a nice tutorial for making this shadow box, when you go to the diyready site, you also get information about a site where you'll find free, vintage butterfly art, to download. You'll be able to think of many, many ways to use those free prints, I'm sure. I know I will.

3. Butterfly Garland

Choose whatever color, or type of paper, that you want to make your butterfly garland. I really like the looks of the book page or newspaper print butterflies. Painting them with watercolor would be easy and give them a different look. You'll go to theguardian to find the instructions for this project.

4. Paper Mache Clay Butterfly

If you haven't made anything with paper mache clay yet, and would like to try it, this is a nice project to make. I've made Santas, turkeys and snowmen using the paper mache clay and this method is very addictive. To find out how to make the paper mache clay, and how to make this butterfly, go to Ultimate PAPER MACHE .

5. Feather Butterflies

I kind of like the idea of using feathers to make butterflies. I think the pastel colors would be especially attractive. If you would like to make these beauties, go to wikiHow or the instructions.

6. Graphics Fairy Ornament

The Graphics Fairy is the site to go to for the tutorial to make this beautiful Christmas ball. They have so many free vintage images to download, that you'll be able to find many that you'll love. An outstanding project and site.

7. Butterflies Under Glass

A beautiful decorator piece that will look elegant all year round on your mantel or side table. Find the instructions for this project at Mark Montano.

8. Beaded Butterfly

This is a very easy project that I think it would make a cute arrangement or mobile for a babies room. Use any kind of bead as long as the chenille strip will thread through it----and that's a lot smaller than you imagine. Then use your babies room décor to decide on the colors. Real cute!! Go to indietutes for the instructions.

9. Butterfly Sun Catcher

Make these butterfly sun catchers to dress up your windows. Find the directions for this craft at, Kids & Glitter. These are beautiful.

10. Punched Tin Butterflies

These unique tin punched butterflies can be found on the Gingerbread Snowflakes lens.

11. Monarch Butterfly Wings

Who knows when they may need butterfly wings for a class play, a party or Halloween. The tutorial at Buggy and Buddy shows how to make these felt wings.

12. Calendar Butterflies

See how you can make beautiful butterflies using the pictures from calendars. You'll find the easy to understand instructions at Best Calendar Page Butterfly.

13. Butterfly on Dowel

A butterfly on a dowel is what this butterfly is. Imagine all the different butterflies you could make and display with this pattern. Go to the Martha Stewart website for this butterfly craft.

26. Clothespin & Coffee Filter Butterfly

Have your kids, at home or in the classroom, make a bunch of these, attach fishing string to them and hang them from the ceiling. Get instructions by going to dollar store crafts.
