What can I create with stencils?

First of all, you will need an idea as to what you want to create. Are you going to try to stencil a border in a room, or, will you start out small?

The beauty of stenciling is that they come in so many shapes and sizes that the possibilities are endless for the creative mind.

I sometimes like to use stencils to paint on rocks. Of course after I stencil the initial design, I embellish the picture with more paint. This is because I enjoy creating a realistic-looking flower, but that doesn't mean that you have to take it to this next step to create beautiful things.

In my opinion, the original stencil left unembellished has a unique look all it's own and although simplistic looking, the lines are clean and provide a beautiful picture as well.

For the novice, whether stenciling a room or stenciling a rock as your project, my advice is to practice on a piece of paper first to get the feel of it.

It's very easy to stencil but when you start anything for the first time, it might not feel that way. However, with a little practice you will be a pro in no time!

How to Paint Rocks with Stencils

I like to use a stencil sometimes to give me a base outline for my fairy rocks.

There are so many fairy stencils available.  Stencil Kingdom has a wide variety of stencils in all kinds of themes, but I like their fairy ones the best.

The ballerina fairy pictured in this section was painted onto a rock that I sold.  It was originally designed with a stencil and then embellished with more paint to give it a more detailed look.

Please click on the following links if you would like to learn more about how to use stencils to paint on rocks and transfer images.

I hope you learned something about how to stencil in this lens, but if you have any questions, please leave them in the comments section and I will be happy to try to help you.
